Following on the heels of last week’s cancellations of the Happy Hour sitcom and The Rich List game show, FOX has announced that another of its new shows is leaving the air.
Justice debuted on Wednesday, August 30th to high expectations. The network had been showing fast-paced promos of the Victor Garber series all summer long but it still failed to attract big numbers. The highly anticipated premiere was watched by only 8.6 million viewers.
Justice followed a diverse group of lawyers as they worked at a prestigious Los Angeles law firm. Each episode started at the beginning of a trial and followed it through until the verdict. Then viewers were shown, via flashbacks, what actually happened at the time of the crime.
Like many FOX series, Justice took a break during the World Series (after five episodes). When it returned, FOX began airing it on Monday nights, opposite NBC’s popular Heroes and replacing Vanished (which was moved to Friday nights). Three episodes have aired on Monday nights. The most recent episode drew only 4.2 million households, about half of lead-in Prison Break’s audience.
With that in mind, its no surprise that FOX has announced that the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced courtroom drama has been pulled from the schedule effective immediately. The network isn’t calling it a cancellation right now. The FOX website lists that the show will return on December 11th, but the word is that it will not return for very long or at all.
Eight episodes of Justice have aired thus far and production is expected continue on the rest of the 13 episodes of FOX’s order. There is no word as yet if the series or any individual episodes will be released on DVD or online via FOX’s website.
11/17/06 UPDATE: FOX has officially cancelled Vanished and Justice will instead return on Friday, December 1st. No new word on how long it will continue to air. 
I find FOX horrible, but “Justice” was to me a kind of redemption for FOX, what a great, intelligent show! I love the endings, what a twist! I couldn’t wait to see the next episode. Its cancellation proves to me again that FOX is an idiotic network, which is interested only in captivating an idiotic audience and keep it that way. Please be smart, bring Justice back!!!!!!!!
fox doesnt care,they only care about cheap reality shows or american idol, those shows cost nothing to make, and every time you watch one of those types of shows YOU help cancel a good show like JUSTICE. as long as people watch shows like Idol we will get fewer and fewer good shows cause they cost more than reality and Idol type garbage.
stop supporting the junk and we’ll get more good shows. write the sponsors of the crap and tell them you wont buy their product if they continue sponsoring this crap and watch how fast things will change

I loved the concept of this show, and watching it, I never dreamed that it would be cancelled because it was so amazing. It was a show for the intellectual and so refreshing. No one had ever created a courtroom drama where at the end the truth was revealed. With great stories, scripts, and actors, how could this concept fail? I think the only thing wrong with Justice, is that it was owned by FOX. It was doomed from the start. BRING JUSTICE BACK!!!!!!!
I logged on looking to find out when Justice would be returning to FOX. How disappointing to learn that they are not planning on a return. It was our favorite show on television. We recorded each episode and watched it twice.
i still can’t believe what i am reading. i’ve been waiting for the season premiere for weeks now and i am shocked to see that Justice has been cancelled! why would Fox dump one of their best shows?? Justice was easily the most enjoyable law shows i’ve seen, and looked forward to watching.. great acting, great stories, great characters – it was refreshing to see a show of this genre with such a different, unpredictable perspective.. bring Justice back!
please consider giving Justice another shot. My husband and I always looked forward to settling down after dinner to watch it.

My wife and I were both regular viewers and it wasn’t easy what with the FOXschedule chsnges. It is a great show. I hope someone brings it back. The premise of showing the crime at the end was definitely unique and added to the shows appeal.

UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!!!!!!! I have been frantically searching for whatever night you moved JUSTICE to. Who is the IDIOT who decided to cancel this fantastic show??? This was the best thing on FOX and now I have no reason to tune in to your station.
I am really upset that they decided to cancel JUSTICE. I agree with everyone. It was one of my favorite shows. I so looked forward to watching it, especially because it showed what actually happened to each victim at the end of the show. I liked it better than SHARK on CBS. I’d rather have that one cancelled and have JUSTICE returned. Now, don’t get me wrong, SHARK is a good show, but I LOVED JUSTICE 100% more. PLEASE BRING BACK JUSTICE!!!!
I’ve never really felt strongly enough about something to post a comment but had to when I found out Justice was cancelled. Justice was intelligent and exceptional, and the fox kiss of death was moving it from Monday night.
