Following on the heels of last week’s cancellations of the Happy Hour sitcom and The Rich List game show, FOX has announced that another of its new shows is leaving the air.
Justice debuted on Wednesday, August 30th to high expectations. The network had been showing fast-paced promos of the Victor Garber series all summer long but it still failed to attract big numbers. The highly anticipated premiere was watched by only 8.6 million viewers.
Justice followed a diverse group of lawyers as they worked at a prestigious Los Angeles law firm. Each episode started at the beginning of a trial and followed it through until the verdict. Then viewers were shown, via flashbacks, what actually happened at the time of the crime.
Like many FOX series, Justice took a break during the World Series (after five episodes). When it returned, FOX began airing it on Monday nights, opposite NBC’s popular Heroes and replacing Vanished (which was moved to Friday nights). Three episodes have aired on Monday nights. The most recent episode drew only 4.2 million households, about half of lead-in Prison Break’s audience.
With that in mind, its no surprise that FOX has announced that the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced courtroom drama has been pulled from the schedule effective immediately. The network isn’t calling it a cancellation right now. The FOX website lists that the show will return on December 11th, but the word is that it will not return for very long or at all.
Eight episodes of Justice have aired thus far and production is expected continue on the rest of the 13 episodes of FOX’s order. There is no word as yet if the series or any individual episodes will be released on DVD or online via FOX’s website.
11/17/06 UPDATE: FOX has officially cancelled Vanished and Justice will instead return on Friday, December 1st. No new word on how long it will continue to air.
Why? Why? Why? Fox finally has a good show besides Prison Break and now they cancel it!! What’s up with that? CBS has all the CSI’s and NBC has the Law & Orders, what do FOX have now besides Prison Break. What a dissappointment!!
Fox…you goofed up. Justice was AWESOME.
Justice…another great show gone….it makes me and my wife feel why watch Fox when they cancel everything good and keep crappy things still running.
Both my husband and I liked this show. I hope they listen to everyone else and bring it back for another chance.
Justice was the best show of the year. There were so many exciting parts to each story. Showing the crime and how it actually happened was unquie to any other legal show. There is more to TV then just reality and talent shows.

If “Justice” was on DVD, I hope that their sales go up. If their sales go up, I doubt it that some other network besides FOX would think about reviving the show and everyone’s happy.
I can’t believe it’s gone. What a great show. I am so sick of the Greys Anatomy type nonsense ruling the airwaves. Justice was my only reason for watching tv. Back to netflix I guess. Fox sucks.
I only watch Prison Break and Justice on Fox. I am sure Prison Break won’t be able to go on for too many more seasons, there is only so much you can do about a show called Prison Break. Anyway, It was nice to have a law show that gave you a good ending. You have had the show on about 3 different nights aready, maybe if you stick to a night the shows ratings will be as good as the show itself.
I can’t believe Justice was canceled let alone even without notification beforehand. Justice was one show my husband & I enjoyed watching together! I love the entire cast – extremely talented and the writers had a unique storyline going! I would love nothing more than to have it “revived”.
justice was/is awesome. Finally a show that i didn’t have figured out in the first few minutes. Please bring it back!!!!
I loved Justice because it was the only show to show you after the trial really what happened. Standoff was off the chain it was a great show and I thank after Idol fox should renew both shows to air one right after the other with Prison Break going first on that night.
Thanks you for listening
i never watched fox until the tv show, “justice”. why? i am conscious. however, i was searching for something on the one eyed monster one night, and i found a show with a scintilla of content. that show was “justice.” you see, i am a prosecutor. one of the few with ethics. i know that the media gives a poor picture of the legal system. “justice” made a grand attempt to fly its flag high. i salute that attempt. fox, you have lost a viewer. thank god for the off button on the tv and for books.
bring back justice it was one of the best shows on tv in a long time what were you thinking
I am very disappointed that Justice has been pulled. I really enjoyed the story line and characters. I am so very sick of reality t.v and sitcoms. When Fox finally decides to air a program with some intelligence they cancell it right away. Why don’t they cancel Trading Spouses? Many of us don’t want to see this type of program. I also think that they should stick to a time slot and stop moving things around. How are we supposed to get into a show when we have no idea when it’s on? Viewers need to get into the habit… Read more »
