Can anyone save Kevin? ABC has ordered three additional episodes of its new Kevin (Probably) Saves the World TV show, bringing the season one episode order to a total of 16. Whether that means the low-rated freshman dramedy is cancelled or renewed for a second season is a bit more complex. It has been languishing in ABC’s problematic 10:00pm Tuesday timeslot and has failed to draw the sort of Nielsen numbers typical of a successful, new TV series.
From creators Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World stars Jason Ritter as the self-involved Kevin Finn, who learns he is the last of his generation’s 36 righteous souls meant to power it with the hope that can save the world from destruction. The ABC cast also includes: JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Chloe East, J. August Richards, Dustin Ybarra, and India de Beaufort.
Kevin (Probably) Saves the World: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Kevin (Probably) Saves the World is averaging a 0.76 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.26 million viewers. When sorted by its demo ratings, it ranks 14th out of ABC’s scripted TV shows, and is 13th, in terms of average total audience size.
While hearing a network has ordered additional episodes may not seem like bad news on the cancellation and renewal front, it is somewhere between probable and likely that there will be no season two of Kevin (Probably) Saves the World. A small back order like this is often more about the network filling a timeslot than an indication that they will order a second season.
Although ABC has posted the episode order news to its press site, Deadline has confirmed the order.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Kevin (Probably) Saves the World TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for season two on ABC?
This is one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Enjoy the plots and the cast, especially Ritter. Please don’t cancel this show. I DVR it a lot because of other sporting events. It’s one of the best show that’s one ABC. Please renew it for a second season.
RENEW RENEW RENEW!! This is the best show on television right now. Honestly. Nothing is better. It deserves a better time slot and many more seasons.
Definitely save Kevin. There is no other show that is appropriate for the whole family. There’s no other show that can bring a family together. It is far better than all other long running crime/drama or even other comedy shows that have been running on fumes for years. It would be a shame to lose such a gem. It would surpass all expectations at any other time slot. Guaranteed.
I also watch on DVD. Can’t stay up that late to watch at 10.
Best show on TV. Great cast, great writing! Love it! Really only reason to watch ABC.
This is such a feel good show and so hilariously funny and heartwarming that I will be so sad if it is cancelled. ABC please give this show a chance at a better time slot!
This show is amazing feat. It is uplifting and overwhelming in beauty and spirit. It spans all religious beliefs, personal beliefs, and those that believe in just being good. What is unbelievable is it does it without offending anyone. That in itself is a wonder to behold. There are elements of this show that reach the most hardened heart and the utterly confused. It is a show without violence, sex, murder, or anything that you try daily to shield young minds and protect yourself from. To cancel this show would be the biggest mistake of your network. It has a… Read more »

I love this show. I hope you reconsider canceling it. Maybe try it in another time slot.
Kevin Probably Saves The World is a FANTASTIC FAMILY SHOW. A MUCH NEEDED thing on tv these days!!! WHY put it in the 10:00 time slot???? Air it at 8:00 and ratings will go up!!!!
Easily the best “scripted” non sit-com on television. It’s not even close! There are many good things about this sort of show that make it the kind of thing I have come to expect from ABC. Unfortunately, poor promotion and needless cancellation are also the kinds of things I’ve come to expect from ABC, so I guess we can expect to move from heart-warming stories to “American Idol” styled exploitative garbage any day now. It’s interesting to have this question at a time when my wife and I are discussing the fact that even though ABC is the only network… Read more »
My husband, 45 years old , and I ,42 years old, LOVE this show! We usually watch it in Hulu because it comes on so late. We love that it is funny and upbeat. There is nonother show on T.V. like it. It nice to watch people trying to do good in the world instead of a show full of guns.
One of the Best shows on. We need more like this. Irs a feel good show which we need more of.
