After three seasons, ABC Family’s Kyle XY TV show is coming to an end. Will viewers get answers to the ongoing storylines about the young man without a belly button?
Kyle XY centers around a young man (Matt Dallas) who wakes up in the middle of a Seattle forest — naked and without a memory. The police call in psychologist Nicole Trager (Marguerite MacIntyre) for assistance and she ends up bringing him home. Her husband Stephen (Bruce Thomas), daughter Lori (April Matson), and son Josh (Jean-Luc Bilodeau) almost immediately take to “Kyle” and make him feel like part of the family. He begins to show incredible intelligence and physical abilities that lead the Tragers to realize there’s far more to Kyle than meets the eye. Others in the series include Chris Olivero, Kirsten Prout, Jaimie Alexander, Nicholas Lea, Chelan Simmons, Magda Apanowicz, Martin Cummins, Leah Cairns, J. Eddie Peck, Teryl Rothery, Conrad Coates, Cory Monteith, Josh Zuckerman, Kurt Max Runte, and Malcolm Stewart.
The show premiered on June 26, 2006 on ABC Family and became an instant hit. It attracted 2.6 million viewers and became the cable network’s highest-rated show to date. The pilot was repeated on ABC and over 5.2 million people watched. The first season was made up of 10 episodes and the show was quickly renewed for a second year.
Kyle continued to enjoy very healthy ratings into the second season. They were so good that ABC Family ended up ordering 23 episodes, a longer season than most series on the major networks. In May 2007, ABC Family president Paul Lee proudly said, “Kyle XY is the highest-rated show ever on ABC Family; it is truly the show that has defined this network.”

Unfortunately, that sunny outlook didn’t continue for very long once the ratings started to fall in the latter part of season two. Kyle’s third season’s premiere episode attracted just 1.5 million viewers and other ABC Family shows outperformed it by a wide margin.
ABC Family has just announced the renewal of two shows — Greek and Lincoln Heights — as well as the cancellation of Kyle. No details were given for the cancellation but the decline in ratings, higher production costs, and castmember contracts coming up for renewal are all believed to be contributing factors.
The third season of Kyle kicked off on January 12th and is expected to conclude on March 16th. It seems likely that the network will continue to air all of the episodes on schedule.
Because the series finale was shot well before the cancellation news came down, it seems unlikely that all of the show’s ongoing storylines will be resolved when the last episode airs. Will fans get the answers they’re looking for or will they be left hanging forever?

Well, I will NEVER watch a TV series by ABC Family again. There’s NO point. Ya get into the show and then they discontinue it… ? What the….? Don’t they like having viewers for the ONLY show worth watching by ABC Family…? NEVER again.
Furthermore, what’s the point of releasing the DVD’s for the seasons when its got no ending anyway…? Boycott ABC Family series. They don’t end the shows with answers….

I just found out about the show being canceled and I cannot believe it. It was my favorite show ever and it was the one show i would drop anything to do. It was also a show my family and I could watch! I hope that they do atleast give us an ending because that show was to good to just leave to us on such a weird note. This a show that I will be telling my grand children about.
I am very upset about the show being cancelled. I like scifi of all kinds, have watched the show from the begining, will be disapointed not to know what will happens to the characters. To many shows have been cancelled with no ending this is one fan who is getting tired of it. Please at least if you are going to end it give the loyal fans an ending. Thank you for listing.
uhm.. well im extremely disappointed in this! ive watched this show since the first season, nd im sitting here, waiting to hear about the next season, buh guess waht!? THERE IS NONE! yu people have an amazing way of letting people down! how are yu going to end a tv show when yu havent even finished the story line!? this is despicable!!!!
Great idea. Let’s get rid of the only decent show on ABC Family. And after I watched every season…EXPECTING AT LEAST AN ENDING….I am very disappointed. I was hoping for even more than a season 4 but they could have at least given us that so we had some answers. How lame. Kyle XY was the only decent show on ABC Family, which is obviously no longer a family channel. They should really change their name or something. How about ABC Failures. Thanks a lot! What a tease.
Kyle XY was the best show in many years to come on TV, to have canceled this particular show was a grave error on ABC family’s part, I will discontinue to watch this station.
This stinks. I just finished watching season three…I figured season 4 just hadn’t aired yet or something, I didn’t know it had been cancelled. Kyle XY was the only good show ON ABC Family. Way to go. And to leave everyone without an ending? Very disappointing. The problem with ABC Family is that it’s no longer a family channel. Now all they play is mindless garbage void of any real value. Definately not a channel I would watch with my kids, now that the only decent show is gone.
The show was cancelled because it promotes family values.
The government doesn’t want to promote family strength, it goes against their agenda. They ordered it to be cancelled.

i have watched all the episode of kyle xy and have enjoyed everyone one to hear that its cancelled is disguisting. why take away a good show and have no finally bring kyle xy back its one of the best shows of the modern era people like it and love it and DON’T cancel kyle xy
