While the second season of Legend of the Seeker is still airing, a significant decision has already been made about the possibility of season three.
Legend of the Seeker is a fantasy series about a young woodsman (Craig Horner) who discovers he is actually destined to be a heroic Seeker. The series also stars Bridget Regan, Bruce Spence, Craig Parker, and Kevin J. Wilson.
The show is produced by ABC Studios and airs in syndication, primarily running on stations owned by the Tribune Company. The show debuted on November 1, 2008 and was renewed for second season after just 10 episodes had aired.
Season two kicked off on November 7, 2009 and now, after 13 episodes have aired, Tribune has decided they’ve had enough. According to KsiteTV and a representative of Tribune, the show’s ratings haven’t been good enough for them to renew Legend of the Seeker for season three.

While ABC has not made an announcement that the show has been cancelled, the Tribune Company represents a large percentage of stations that carry the series. ABC will have to do a lot of legwork to get it picked up by enough other stations.
The big questions are if the ratings are good enough for other stations to want to pick up the show and if the revenue will warrant ABC keeping the show going.
Co-Executive Producer Mike Sussman isn’t ready to give up just yet. Yesterday, he twittered a photo his show’s hero with his favorite Mark Twain quote, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”
The remaining episodes of season two kick off on March 20th.
What do you think? Should Legend of the Seeker survive to see a third season?

Personally, I think losing WGN and Tribune should be seen as good news for Disney and LOTS. Local stations should be far happier to have a show that only airs on their station in their particular market. If I was programming for an indie TV station I’d be far more interested in a show that’s not airing nationally on a cable channel. It seems to me that the locals will get better ratings with this show as an exclusive than they would if they were one of 2-3 stations airing the same content. The show is getting better and more… Read more »
Great show, it just needs another season to hit it big.
Also I would like to add that this show has made me watch T.V. again. It’s hard for me to get into a series, but I was hooked with “The Legend of the Seeker” from the beginning. There is nothing like it on television, which is a plus, and you should keep up the show. Do what’s right. And make us fans very happy.
Keep the show going… please. I am really tired of losing my favorite series. If the show ends, well I will be sad, but there are always the books. I just love that these great actors get to do what they love. So if not for the fans, do it for them.
Legend of the seeker is ok for a tv show but it makes a mockery of the books. it takes away the story of the seeker. Any that have read the books should have cringed in the first two episodes when they introduced the sisters of the light as Kahlan’s friends, or the passage through the barrier. then later with the headaches skipping the mud people entirely a group of people from the books that have Major impact in the actual story. from episode one all the way through to the current episode bound where the maternity spell is used… Read more »
ok iv been hooked on legend of the seeker since the first time iv watched it, even my mom is watching it with me now!!! th show should NOT be cancelled!!! im going to buy all the books bcz of how much i love th show!!!
i like the show…it should be renewed until season 6 maybe…long live the seeker..
Legend of the Seeker is the best show on tv right now, it should be renewed for a third and possibly more seasons.
I would be so dissappointed AGAIN if they cancel this show. Where i’m at it comes on at like midnight sat nights. But i still watch it, and I watch it on Netflix b/c sometimes it doesn’t even come on. It helps when they will actually show a show on a reg basis and at a better time. I DO NOT understand how some of these other crap tv shows are still on, because rest assured, no one in my household is watching them. Im so sick of reality tv “i want to be american idol millionare bachelorette dancing with… Read more »
Started watching the series first season, and felt it was a bit stiff the first few shows, but with every show I enjoyed it more, and now that the Cast is “in their Zone” so to speak it has become very enjoyable for me. Ended up having to read the Books to fill the craving I felt for more. Love the Books now as well, and completely understand why the Series has to stand alone since there is so much in the books that simply can’t be expressed on TV, but the heart and soul is there, and the characters… Read more »
I love this show.
Please renewed Legend of the seeker.Deserves a 3rd season!
i am 56 year old. i like it. not the books. read the books. so new stories to me. live in the
sticks. so no cable or air brodcast. hope abc will count me as a viewer. i watch the ads. hulu rocks. if abc wants me to wacth on their web site, i can do that.
I’ve already commented, but I had to say that I’ve been reading all the comments, and I hope that they’ll all help save LotS…unlike The Crow: Stairway to Heaven, Star Trek Enterprise, Moonlight, and some others that pissed me off by being cancelled. Here, in MI, LotS comes on Sunday @ 6 p.m. on The CW, channel 50. It’s strange reading that it’s still on Saturdays in other states, and that it’s being shown on ABC instead of The CW. Hear’s a thought…since it’s, at least in MI, on The CW, maybe UPN or CBS could buy LotS.
I didn’t start watching the show until the end of season one and have been captivated by it ever since. Enough so, that I have started to read the novels. I wonder at why ABC did not feel that the show was strong enough to be mainstreamed. Considering some of the shows they produce that I think should be dumped, Legend of the Seeker had a better than average chance of being a hit on the major networks. I hope that the new owners of the Tribune Company will have a change of heart because I’m quite sure there are… Read more »
Norman you do realize that many of the things in the books cannot be put on the large – or small screen. Yes there were changes, yes there were omissions (some that I did not like), and some things were made up for the show however the spirit of the books is alive and well in the show. I am a huge fan of the books despite what Terry Goodkind said about some of the fans of his work and I’ll admit that I felt the show started off kinda cheesy, cliched, and stiff the subsequent episodes changed my opinion… Read more »
