Sometimes the truth hurts — especially when it comes to television ratings. After three seasons, FOX has cancelled Lie to Me.
Starring Tim Roth, Lie to Me revolves around Cal Lightman and members of The Lightman Group. They’re a team of specialists who help law enforcement agencies uncover the truth by using applied psychology. Others in the cast include Kelli Williams, Brendan Hines, Monica Raymund, Hayley McFarland, and Mekhi Phifer.
Last season, Lie to Me averaged a 2.9 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.03 million total viewers. That was down from season one and the series found itself on the bubble for renewal. FOX ended up giving the TV series another chance and renewed it for 13 episodes.
Unfortunately, season three didn’t perform nearly as well as season two. It premiered last October to a 2.1 rating in the demo and 5.86 million. Viewership eroded in subsequent weeks and FOX declined to give the show a full season order. Lie to Me then hit a new series low in January, registering a meager 1.5 rating and 5.43 million viewers.

In its final weeks on the air, viewers seemed to rally behind it and Lie to Me had its best ratings of the season — a 2.5 in the demo and 7.67 million.
Though the ratings had come way down, FOX execs claimed that they still valued the TV series and saw it as a solid utility player. Showrunner Alex Cary said, “Fox has been very clear with us — they know what the show is, they know what it can do. [The ratings bump] shows that people will come watch the show.”
Now, after three seasons on the air, the series is over. FOX has officially cancelled Lie to Me after 48 episodes. All of the installments have aired. Though there are too few episodes for a traditional syndication package, the first two seasons have already been released on DVD.

its the best tv series ever!!
This is my new favorite show. I started watching it on Netflix last week and am almost done with the third season. I really think that it should have more seasons. Think about it, if you bring it back after having been cancelled the show will have a lot more buzz and therefore more viewers.
I watched only a few episodes when it was on t.v., but they kept changing the times that it came on so i lost interest. So when it came on netflix, i was so excited! My husband says that i am addicted. I can watch 3-4 episodes a night easy.
My brother was telling me that if enough people want the show back, and write to tell them so, there is a chance that the contract could be renewed.
Does anyone know if there is any truth in this?
This Is the best show ever!! Please bring it back for a 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th season!!! I found it on Netflix one day and watched all 3 seasons in 1 week haha I’m hooked!! Bring it back!!!
They should have renewed this for 7 seasons. One of the most interesting and intelligent shows on television, and nothing was resolved with Foster and Lightman nor with Torres and Loker. Definitely disappointed there is no fourth season.
I cannot believe this show was cancelled – it was THE best show on TV ! The characters really jelled together well, and made the whole show truly believable. Tim Roth and Kelli Williams were excellent – Hope the network execs realize their mistake, and decide to bring this one back!!!

Please bring the show back! As a psychology major that show was everything from fun to impressive to educational. I bet there are so many more viewers abroad as well, and if there was a way to create some legit way to watch fox abroad, the ratings will be skyrocketing. Please reconsider, it’s one show where each episode is seriously a jewel.
I love this show! Unfortunately, I didn’t find this show on tv until one of the last few episodes, and waited so long to find out if it was being renewed, I was so looking forward to a good show to watch. I downloaded every episode from Amazon and have watched the episodes so many times, and I still love watching them. By the third season Tim played his role so well, he started to remind me of another Columbo, with his own mannerisms that endeared me to him. Bring back this show me and my huseband have been watching the seasons on netflic and are hooked. This show is funny,makes ya think. And will teach you how to tell if someone is lieing

Bring Lie to Me BACK!!!!! Real characters, great dialogue, intelligent humor, original writing, and unpredictable plot lines. Getting rid of this awesome show makes PERFECT sense! It was the only good thing on tv. Good grief!!
