Sometimes the truth hurts — especially when it comes to television ratings. After three seasons, FOX has cancelled Lie to Me.
Starring Tim Roth, Lie to Me revolves around Cal Lightman and members of The Lightman Group. They’re a team of specialists who help law enforcement agencies uncover the truth by using applied psychology. Others in the cast include Kelli Williams, Brendan Hines, Monica Raymund, Hayley McFarland, and Mekhi Phifer.
Last season, Lie to Me averaged a 2.9 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.03 million total viewers. That was down from season one and the series found itself on the bubble for renewal. FOX ended up giving the TV series another chance and renewed it for 13 episodes.
Unfortunately, season three didn’t perform nearly as well as season two. It premiered last October to a 2.1 rating in the demo and 5.86 million. Viewership eroded in subsequent weeks and FOX declined to give the show a full season order. Lie to Me then hit a new series low in January, registering a meager 1.5 rating and 5.43 million viewers.

In its final weeks on the air, viewers seemed to rally behind it and Lie to Me had its best ratings of the season — a 2.5 in the demo and 7.67 million.
Though the ratings had come way down, FOX execs claimed that they still valued the TV series and saw it as a solid utility player. Showrunner Alex Cary said, “Fox has been very clear with us — they know what the show is, they know what it can do. [The ratings bump] shows that people will come watch the show.”
Now, after three seasons on the air, the series is over. FOX has officially cancelled Lie to Me after 48 episodes. All of the installments have aired. Though there are too few episodes for a traditional syndication package, the first two seasons have already been released on DVD.

I was so upset when LTM ended, especially because Cal and Gill never got together, and they were on the verge of hiring a new employee. It’s one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and I hope they do something more with it.
You gotta be kidding me???!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ARGH!! Bring it back!!! What in the world were you thinking only about money and ratings? Listen to people ! We love it! Bring it back again season 4 to the very end of seasons….would be nice to watch what happens to Carl’s daughter Emma being all grown up and so and see foster and cal go together with love..much excitement cancelled because for you FOX had your brain somewhere else around! Bring it back!

Im really sad that they canceled the show because we’ll never find out pf Cal and Foster ever get together. Im also sad because we’ll never know if the black guy (Michael B. Jordan) will ever get hired into The Lightmen Group.
I started watching lie to me because my husband would talk about it a lot so he purchased the first season and i was hooked… i finished watching the other two seasons and was really excited about how the season ended and then totally devastated to find out that the show was canceled and that cal and Dr foster were not ever gonna get together… really wish that they would bring the show back

Lie To Me is such an amazing show on so many levels – perhaps most importantly is that it does not revolve primarily around lurid violence and mechanical investigation but rather around human beings and their psychology. Tim Roth is one of the most amazing actors alive today and it was incredible to be able to watch such a powerful actor week after week do what he did – great – and it makes the show’s cancellation even harder. Ratings talk but not for all of us.

It sucks that it was canceled. It was so refreshing with a new Series on netflix, and in generel a Series not simuler to csi, ncis, criminal minds and all the other half-simular shows..

Truely gutted lie to me has been cancelled, it was the reason I signed up to Netflix. There is nothing else like it. Fox has missed out again cancelling another amazing show before it’s time.

I startede watching Lie to Me on Netflix, and ist is so disapointed that the serie is cancelled. It is absolutely the Best.! They should continue and then show it here in Denmark, because we just love it! 🙂

I am so disappointed ! I’ve watched these episodes in one run and I really want to see more. I don’t understand how such a great series could get canceled !
I watched the first 2 seasons religiously, but hours change at work and was not able to watch as much as I would have liked to. Season 3 left me hanging with him admitting his love for Foster. I loved the show and really wished it had continued for at least 1 more season.
It’s not okay. I’ve been watching that TV show all school year long and even a bit before then, only to find out this morning that FOX cancelled it! You just can’t do that! They only just added a new guy. And what happens with Cal and Jil? What about Loker and Tores?

I’m really saidind that such good quality show and very intertaining I might add is no more I beleave if they could bring them back together for another season this time you will not be disappointed! You could be quite amazed how bad people want something once it’s gone.
