Sometimes the truth hurts — especially when it comes to television ratings. After three seasons, FOX has cancelled Lie to Me.
Starring Tim Roth, Lie to Me revolves around Cal Lightman and members of The Lightman Group. They’re a team of specialists who help law enforcement agencies uncover the truth by using applied psychology. Others in the cast include Kelli Williams, Brendan Hines, Monica Raymund, Hayley McFarland, and Mekhi Phifer.
Last season, Lie to Me averaged a 2.9 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.03 million total viewers. That was down from season one and the series found itself on the bubble for renewal. FOX ended up giving the TV series another chance and renewed it for 13 episodes.
Unfortunately, season three didn’t perform nearly as well as season two. It premiered last October to a 2.1 rating in the demo and 5.86 million. Viewership eroded in subsequent weeks and FOX declined to give the show a full season order. Lie to Me then hit a new series low in January, registering a meager 1.5 rating and 5.43 million viewers.

In its final weeks on the air, viewers seemed to rally behind it and Lie to Me had its best ratings of the season — a 2.5 in the demo and 7.67 million.
Though the ratings had come way down, FOX execs claimed that they still valued the TV series and saw it as a solid utility player. Showrunner Alex Cary said, “Fox has been very clear with us — they know what the show is, they know what it can do. [The ratings bump] shows that people will come watch the show.”
Now, after three seasons on the air, the series is over. FOX has officially cancelled Lie to Me after 48 episodes. All of the installments have aired. Though there are too few episodes for a traditional syndication package, the first two seasons have already been released on DVD.

Please bring this series back. What a great show, super story line and great talent. The exec’s should at least do a season 4 and put one great effort into it. I am sure there would be fans of the show that would spread the word…. how ’bout it FOX?

was probably my favorite show everon television. I believe if they giving it 1 more Season it would’ve shown it so b something as good as Criminal Minds

I have to agree with the ratings. I love love loved the show until the last season, and then… I don’t know, watching Emily turn into a **** was boring. In every episode I watched, I could pretty much call what would happen, and then be right. I think the idea behind this series is awesome. It just lacked some original storyline.
I love this show, found out about it on Netflix, I was hooked. It appears as if there was not enough advertisements, after I told my family about it, they were hooked. Please advertise and bring this show back. I have watched each season 4 times, I really wish there were more seasons to watch. I even thought about changing my career, even better, acting on set with this team.
There was no adv. about this TV series, which is a shame! and I discovered it in Netflix only now. I was literally captured by it and I watched the 3 series during Xmas vacation in a marathon non-stop. It’s a brilliant series to bring behavioral science so close to everybody, I’m in engineer and I’ve been never so much fascinated by reading people, pls bring back the team ( they were brilliant!)and the series – with stories at the level of the series 1 and 2!

This programme should be bought back! Its twists and turns were amazing and kept me wanting to watch more! I don’t ever remember seeing it promoted anywhere, a friend in work told me about it!

Love this show! Please bring it back. Agree, that season 3 wasn’t as great as the first two, but it is still much better than a lot of things on TV. Bring it back please!
Ahhhhhhhh! I just finished the last episode!!!! Please! Start immediately writing, shooting and airing Season 4! The new cute Black kid for foot work! Lightman admits he loves Gillian! Emily is getting a new boyfriend! Please! Bring it back. There is nothing on tv like it! Please!
