It’s “lights out” for FX’s new boxing drama series. FX has cancelled Lights Out after one season due to poor ratings.
Lights Out revolves around Patrick ‘Lights’ Leary (Holt McCallany), an aging former heavyweight boxing champion. He struggles to find his identity and support his wife and three daughters after retiring from the ring. The poor economy and a series of bad investments leave Patrick at a perilous crossroads; battling the urge to return to boxing or reluctantly accepting a job as a brutal and intimidating debt collector. The show also features Catherine McCormack, Pablo Schreiber, and Stacy Keach.
Though some critics applauded the series, not many people watched the premiere in January. It registered just a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.487 million viewers. The second episode dropped to a 0.4 rating and 0.92 million viewers. The season has averaged a 0.4 in the demo and 0.88 million.
To no surprise, FX isn’t ordering a second season of Lights Out. The cable channel made the announcement today and indicated that the final two episodes will air as previously scheduled; on March 29th and April 5th at 10pm.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lights Out cancelled? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!! YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING , DONT CANCEL IT.
The idea of canceling this show is not a very good one. The show has
A GREAT story line. The characters, are great also! You couldn`t of picked a better crew to do such a realistic show. I Loved it from the first episode, I told my Friends & Family about the show when I read that it was coming to FX and they also have been watching it from the beginning. I guess it wasn`t enough. Maybe a new time. Does it even matter what the fans have to say.
PLEASE, BRING IT BACK !!!
sad…really enjoyed the episodes.
Horrible idea to cancel this show! this is the only intelligent entertainment on TV today. I get that ratings determine those decisions, but I hope the Producers can shop this around and find a new network, new time, whatever necessary to get this back on. The cast is great, story lines even better. Always loved Stacy Keach.
Disappointed in Oklahoma. Dr. MKL
This is a great story line with superb acting and has caught my attention more than any other show! I, personally, have followed this show religiously and consider myself to be an avid fan of Patrick Lights! Without any exaggeration he is the man!! If FX knows what’s good for them, they will keep the show on for season two!
The morons at FX tonight allowed next week’s episode to be billed as a Season Finale, not the Series Finale. Obviously, they do not care to be honest with the show’s fans.
Man am i sad to see this show go.. I was just starting to get into it after not watching it at all before this month. Now that i finally caught up and understand everything that’s going on, i find out the show is being cancelled….GREAT.
But yeah, awesome show, hate to see it leave.
FX you guy’s come with great show like Over There now Lights Out.what’s going on with your marketing network those were two great show you guy’s have cancel.
Fx you need to rethink cancelling Lights out . anyone I talk to loves it and were all confused on the series ending. Once in awhile we need something other then cops , murders etc. Dont take this away.
