Why did CBS cancel Limitless? At this summer’s TCA press tour, network chief Glenn Geller explained why there will be no second season of the series, TVInsider reports.
Based on the 2011 film, the drama followed Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who is given a special drug that unlocks 100% of his brain. The cast also included Jennifer Carpenter, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Hill Harper, and Colin Salmon.
During the panel, Geller said CBS cancelled Limitless because he didn’t “think it connected with the viewers”:
Ultimately we had to look at the show; it was a very good show, but I don’t think it connected with the viewers as well as other shows had. Yeah, we could have brought it back. But we also have to put on new shows and give other things a shot. It could have come back, but we have to do better; we want to improve time periods. That’s why we put on new shows.”
What do you think? Did you watch Limitless? Do you think the show should’ve been renewed?
I’m watching Limitless now, and I became very disappointed when I found out there is no second season after the first. I look forward to watching one of the episodes after work every night. That would be awesome if they decided to bring it back. I think you guys would have more viewers the second go-around, maybe others were too caught up in other shows at the moment to get to Limitless first, that’s what happened to me and a lot of others
PLEASE. Oh. Please. Give a second season there are so many great ways to start it so many ideas, like for example (Spoiler) Edward Morra is still being watched by the CJC FBI for NZT connections so start a season on that and what if the Shot gave complications as in like one episode he could have a day of bad hallucinations and side effects like we Need this show back.
The potential of the human brain to expand life and Create is just fascinating and why ‘Limitless’ the movie was one of my favourites . . . until the television show appeared. The development of the characters and their relationships were some of the best and most Creative writing on television, in my opinion. The finale was a perfect set-up for Season Two, now that Brian has the ‘Shot.’ The story lines are ‘Limitless!” This is a fantastic opportunity for Netflix to jump on the wide and VERY disappointed audience that awaits the next Season of this Great Show.
