It looks like the story of the Sutton clan has come to an end. ABC Family has quietly decided to cancel Lincoln Heights after four seasons.
Lincoln Heights tells the story of Officer Eddie Sutton (Russell Hornsby) who moves his family back to his old neighborhood. Other castmembers include Erica Hubbard, Nikki Micheaux, Rhyon Brown, Mishon Ratliff, Robert Adamson, and Michael Reilly Burke.
The TV show debuted on January 8, 2007 and the first season was successful enough to warrant a renewal by March. At that point, it was one of the cable channel’s higher performers in the key demographics.
While announcing that the second season would kick off in September 2007, ABC Family President Paul Lee said, “We really think we have something unique here… The fact that it’s an African American family drama alone separates it from the crowd, but its terrific cast and superb writing also make it truly special and perfect for ABC Family.”

Following season two, it took several months for ABC Family to decide to bring Lincoln Heights back for a third round. They finally did and that kicked off in September 2008. The audience grew and the show became the cable channel’s top performer among Females 12-34 and Female teens. It didn’t take as long to renew the series for year four.
Season four kicked off in September 2009. It ended up being one of the channel’s weaker programs of 2009, being outperformed by other ABC Family shows, including cancelled Kyle XY.
No specific reason was given for the Lincoln Heights cancellation. However, though it’s been favored by some critics, the series has never been a big hit for the cable channel and has only been given 10 episode renewals each season.
What do you think? Are you upset or surprised that the series has been cancelled? Do you think the last episode of Lincoln Heights is a worthwhile series finale?

I really wish they would put this show back on the air. Because Lincoln Heights isnt like most of the shows these days where u see bad kids do bad things and they get away with or and continue to do them. on this show it shows u that you have to pay the consequences for ur actions. And people would watch this… Read more »
NO! Omg, I, just like everyone else on here, absolutely LOVE Lincoln Heights. They need to bring it back, I have become attach to the Sutton family!
I completely agree with the last posts – some other network needs to take this show back on, period.
I am very disappointed that Lincoln Heights has cancelled. I truly loved the show and have been patiently waiting for the season premiere..
Lincoln Heights was the best show on tv. I was addicted && I am upset that they cancelled the series. Lincoln Heights needs to get picked up by another network.
I love Lincoln Heights.
This was one of the most real shows on tv. It showed that everyone wasn’t perfect and had perfect lives. It shows the good and bad side of the world. This show needs to get picked up by another network.
I absolutely love Lincoln heights, I mean it was addicting to me. &&’d its hard to believe it was under rated, it makes me sad to see there isn’t a season 5 but there needs to be. Id love to see that happen.
I’m so mad there isn’t a fifth season. I love lincoln heights.
I am beyond upset that they cancelled Lincoln Heights after season 4. I loved that show. Some one is always cancelling a good show but they never cancel stupid shows that go on for like 20 seasons or so.
I don’t think the show was canceled due to racism, but I watched the show from the time it first premiered to the end and I was very upset to learn of it’s cancellation. It’s obvious it has many fans, which would lead to good ratings. It could have been brought out for at least one more season. Just a week ago I found it on Netflix and started watching it over again, which made me even more mad that it got canceled. I hope there is another show to come on that is just as good.
Im truly upset that lincoln Heights was canceled they way they did. Lincoln Heights was one of the most entertainment shows that have played in many years that has not been many family shows thats been played where the family can get together and watch and shows modelizem if thats even a word. but it shows the right things to do other then hear than hearing it they can see it. i love that show and they need TO BRING IT BACK!!
I am appalled at the racist and financial decisions corporate America makes. Lincoln Heights was one of the LAST REALISTIC AFRICAN AMERICAN shows on what is now today’s “entertainment”. It covered all aspects of life. EVERY TIME a new showing a PREDOMINANT black family in America it gets canceled after a few seasons. Now I’m not talking about of all time but recently. NAME ONE show that has an all black family on today… O_o
I found Lincoln Heights through Netflix and my whole family started to sit down and watch the program with me, my wife and our six children. It was like having the Cosby’s back but with the everyday life drama that our family struggles with today at work and in our educational system. Always hart warming at the end of each show and just enough of male and female issues without the dirty sex that we see spread all over other television programs. Somehow one way or another someone needs to continue this show, period!
I’m so upset they cancelled the series. Like everyone said, it is one of the better shows that has aired on television. Although it’s not T.V. that is supposed to raise our children, watching every little bit that is on effects them. Lincoln Heights was real, down to earth, and taught meaningful lessons.
