ABC has done very well with their political drama, Scandal. Will Madam Secretary be a similar ratings hit for CBS? Will it be renewed for a second season or will it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Madam Secretary, former CIA analyst Elizabeth McCord (Tèa Leoni) returns to public life after being recruited by the President (Keith Carradine) to become the new Secretary of State. The rest of the cast includes Željko Ivanek, Bebe Neuwirth, Geoffrey Arend, Patina Miller, Erich Bergen, Tim Daly, Katherine Herzer, and Evan Roe.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/12 update: Madam Secretary and two other shows have been renewed for a second season by CBS.
Final season averages: 1.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.82 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a couple weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Madam Secretary TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season two?
YES i want more seasons, i love the show and as a former fed employee and a political Junkie, it has great characters and story line. CBS, dont be stupid.
Madam Secretary is one of our favorite series. Please do not cancel.
Madam Secretary is an outstanding series. Thoughtful and creative writing along with excellent acting by very talented performers. Please renew this series for the 2015-16 schedule.
It’s not often we TV consumers get a relevant, exciting drama like “Madam Secretary”. Do not cancel it.
This series is one of few intelligent shows that have aired during the season. Madam Secretary, is always well written and acted without flaw. Always entertains and keeps the viewers on their toes while the story unfolds via twists and turns with unanticipated, surprising, often shocking conclusions. I’m hopeful the series will again air next season.
Please do not cancel it. It is definetely one of our favorite shows on tv.
I love this show! Please bring it back.
This is the most relevant show with an amazing protagonist. Do not cancel this show please.
This show is excellent. I am so disappointed it is not on tonight. I hadn’t realized that last week (May 3) was the final episode for the current season. The scripts are exciting and so realistic they are almost like docu-dramas. The acting is brilliant and I find myself thinking about the characters for days after the show. My television fare is primarily news and I find that the vast majority of tv series today are vacuous. This series is an outstanding exception and I will be more than disappointed if the networks drop one of the very few intelligent… Read more »
Great show – very topical.
Bring it back. I love this show. One of my favorites!
Love this show. I think it’s the best new show on TV
love this show
Two excellent shows back to back – Madam Secretary and The Good Wife – hope they run for years! Sooo much better than the canned laugh track junk!
Nancy: well said!
This is a great show – intelligent serious but witty. The chemistry between the leads is terrific and it is so current that you fell like the writers must have written the show the week before it aired. I heard the network might cancel the show due to ratings. I hope they don’t. I know lots of educated, affluent couples that watch this show all the time so the I hope CBS runs the show next year.
