Last season, the ratings for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD dropped once again. This time around, ABC has moved the series to 10pm when expectations are a bit lower. Will the numbers hold steady or continue to fall? Will the show be renewed for a fifth season or cancelled, now that they have enough episodes for syndication? Stay tuned.
On Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, the organization no longer needs to operate in the shadows but the world still presumes Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is dead. As a result, a new Director (Jason O’Mara) is named and Coulson is teamed with Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons) to track down and confirm the presence of Inhumans. The rest of the cast includes Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, John Hannah, and Gabriel Luna.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/17 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Last year comparison: The third season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD averaged a 1.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.43 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
5/11 update: ABC has renewed Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD for a fifth season. Details here.
SO they say the ratings went down. Well, uh, the show was off the air during the election debacle. Duh. All it tells me is if some CEO doesn’t make his millions, then screw everyone. It is getting to the point where one feels it is pointless watching anything anymore, because as soon as one’s heart is set on something, they take it away. Kind of like taking away a gift given to a child. If this goes off the air, then to hell with it. I am not watching anything anymore. What’s the point? There is still “Stitchers”, and… Read more »
Its a very good show hope they renew it
We like the show. Add Ward as an RMD and Red Skull as himself to the show. This will help ratings. Dr Strange will also be cool.
Ive never watch an episode of this show after the 1st 4 episode on season one. I thought this show was going to get cancel after season 1 then season 2 happen then 3 then 4 lolololol. Viewers gets lower every season. ABC/marvel must really think it will get better soon….NOT lol
Hmmm – you stopped watching after 4 episodes of Season 1? Guess that makes you an ideal candidate to air an opinion on it, then…NOT lol
Agents of SHIELD is one of just a handful of shows I actually look forward to, anymore. It is a shame that it is performing so poorly. Solid story lines, character chemistry… this show is a keeper. I just hope the network (and its viewers) agree.
I love Marvrl’s Agrnts of Shield. It has linked the show with the Marvel movies from things referring to Thor, Iron Man and especially Mr. Colson. I look forward to watch it each Tuesday. The bits of humor Colson pops out like ( I didn’t see that comming ) shows a more human side that one can relate to. Even taking sides like when we started to hate the trader Ward. Their are so many directions the show can go that could give it the longevity for years like the old Star Trek series. I’m not a young kid, I’m… Read more »
Agents of shield, legends of tomorro, supergirl and arrow are all crap
I was very disappointed, because I look forward each wk to see what’s happening next. Pls don’t cancel it, I’m pretty sure there are many people felt the same but don’t have the time to give their views and opinions.
Time for ABC and Disney to swallow it’s pride and cancel AOS. With those horrible ratings on a major prime time network, ABC would have canceled the show if it wasn’t a Marvel series. AOS does not even compare to Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, or DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
AOS is on a nother level.
Chicago Fire is one of my favorite shows. Watch every week. Also Chicago PD and Chicago Med
AOS is one of the best superhero show on TV, I feel like it’s a close second to The Flash. But the storytelling for this forth Season is way better than a lot of the crap on TV now.
Just can’t get into this show, it might be because the only Marvel characters I like are the X-Men
Love this show. Very clever concept. The characters are great & love the cast. Please keep this show going. It’s different and covers many topics. Not a one story line show. Comments are hilarious when discussing believability. Wonder what they must think about Agents of Shield, The Real Housewives series or Big Bang Theory. Today’s reality shows are unbelievable. Please keep this show. It’s a winner!
Cheers, Thanx a million, AoS usually has a delayed viewership culture for some reason and this second chart “Live + 3 Days (DVR)” better portrays SHIELD’s true and honest performance. This even jumps much higher for “Live + 7 Days” but this will satisfy many potential new viewers for now.
Secondly Season 4 is just INSANE so far, it’s made even haters speechless in the Season premier. If any doubts about picking it up or binging, just read the latest reviews and the above chart even illustrates it’s performance.
TVLive.com stated that following Friday ~
ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. — now airing at the wee hour of 10 pm — enjoyed the largest percentage gains of any Monday/Tuesday program, up 82 percent in the demo (to a respectable 2.0) while growing 62 percent in audience (to 5.5 million viewers), with Live+3 DVR playback folded in.
Better check your numbers again. The last episode didn’t even get 2 1/2 million viewers. Viewership is going down with each season.
I have been a continued viewer from episode 1 and have only been let down with every season. I would rather see AOS canceled and give half of the supposed 5th season budget to Inhumans. I’m already disappointed with the early pics of Inhumans dye to them looking like cosplay fans…..if they sacrifice AOS…and give half the $ to Inhumans at the very least you have a chance of capturing new fans with a new series with decent effects. And, they would still be saving money by only giving half of the money. AOS was DOA….and in my mind, lucky… Read more »
