Last season, the ratings for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD dropped once again. This time around, ABC has moved the series to 10pm when expectations are a bit lower. Will the numbers hold steady or continue to fall? Will the show be renewed for a fifth season or cancelled, now that they have enough episodes for syndication? Stay tuned.
On Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, the organization no longer needs to operate in the shadows but the world still presumes Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is dead. As a result, a new Director (Jason O’Mara) is named and Coulson is teamed with Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons) to track down and confirm the presence of Inhumans. The rest of the cast includes Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, John Hannah, and Gabriel Luna.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Last year comparison: The third season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD averaged a 1.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.43 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.

Problem is…the networks can’t monitor who is actually watching which channels if the viewers watching them aren’t “plugged in”. I watch Agents of Shield religiously…but I do so from an antenna. Cable networks and satellite companies couldn’t tell you that though…bc I’m not paying their ridiculous fees for them to spy on/report on my viewing habits. I noticed ABC is starting a new show, called “Inhumans” this fall, which is what made me check to see if they’d DC’D my series. I hope not! I have really enjoyed Agents of Shield, and would miss it terribly if gone!!!

Please renew, this show is so underrated and I’ve been having emotional roller coester with each and every episodes. the twists and turn and plot changes are so gooooood! Dear ABC/Marvel, you must know that although it has low rating in US, it has high ratings at oversea which actually build up the MCU fans and help in movie box office. Please renew it for a few more seasons!

Great show with great possibilities. Somebody needs to talk to ABC and Stan Lee about relinking AOS to the rest of the Marvel universe. Cameos of Avengers or the return of Phil Coulson would be great. Don’t understand why AO S has to react to events in Avengers movies and not the other way around. Coulson was great in the Iron Man, Thor and Avengers movies. C’mon, stop treating the Agents like orphans!
