Detective Dwight Hendricks (Jason Lee) has sung his last Elvis song and solved his last case. TNT has cancelled Memphis Beat after two season on the air.
A TNT spokesperson said, “TNT has decided not to pick up a third season of Memphis Beat… The network thanks everyone involved in the production of Memphis Beat for their work on the series, including the great cast and crew. TNT wishes everyone the best.” The last episode aired on August 16th.
Beat was the last of the TNT dramas to have its fate decided. The cable channel renewed Leverage, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies, and Franklin & Bash but cancelled Beat, HawthoRNe, and Men of a Certain Age. Men had the worst ratings of the three axed series while HawthoRNe and Beat were next in line.
Lee will next be seen on NBC’s Up All Night and Beat creators/spouses Liz Garcia and Josh Harto recently sold a new drama to the peacock network called The Meadows.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Memphis Beat has been cancelled? What would you have liked to see happen in season three?

Very disappointed to hear this show was cancelled. I looked forward to the show each week. Falling Skies?!! Can’t believe they kept that one….
I am sorry to see it end. It was refreshing to see a show which was actually not stressful and just felt good. I / we really donot like reality TV. I mentioned this show to many people who I thought would enjoy it but they had never heard of it. I am not sure all these shows get good advertisement. I would like to have seen just more of the same.
Memphis Beat was a winner, I loved watching it. Funny, entertaining and excellent writing. All can you have all 3 of those traits and cancel this show.
I don’t understand. Lets hope you keep Rizzoli and Isles.
Can’t believe you are cancelling this! All of the cast were great! Don’t you people know that when you have a good thing going just leave it alone and give it a chance! Whereever you are coming up with your ratings please give the rest of us a vote. With The Closer and Memphis Beat cancelling, there goes my interest in watching TNT. Whatever can be done to keep Memphis Beat or bring it back , please DO IT!
sure wish they would reconsider and bring memphis beat back. really liked it. tnt disapoints me.
Very disappointed in TNT taking Memphis Beat off the air. Waited each week for the story and the music.
I loved memphis. beat!!! Y’all take all the good, shows off & leave Bs like “friggin the Talk” wi julie chan….. 🙁
Can’t believe one of the most stylish shows in recent memory is fading into oblivion. We thought it not only had a great style and sense of itself, but the stories were first rate, the characters had depth…the music rocked, everything about this show said first class! TNT decides to keep Franklin and Bash over Memphis Beat? Agree with many of the comments here — we watch a little TV but there’s way to much crap on…becoming a desert out there.
Another good show bites the dust….why tv people why??? Every none reality show I like gets cancelled. It is tiring so I too don’t watch much TV anymore.
Every time I find a show I enjoy- it gets cancelled. I’m tired of the rich housewives of whatever city. There isn’t enough comedy or serious tv with a little twist to it like Memphis Beat was, cop by day singer by night. I was looking forward to a possible romance in the 3rd season. I love Jason Lee in that part along with Alfre Winfred. The cast was great. Time was good. Problem is- it’s not a reality tv show and therefore not worth saving. I may as well stop paying for cable because tv isn’t worth wasting my… Read more »
I figured this series would be cancelled. It was too good. Not enough sex, blood, guts.
Just good acting, good story lines, all round good show. Won’t be watching TNT anymore!
Memphis Beat is a favorite show of mine – looked forward to watching it each week – great combination of police drama and everyday life. Stories were great, loved the car, music and setting. Jason Lee made this series great. A great show cut short too soon
my comment is on memphis beat it is one of the best show on tnt now without it I don’t watch tnt anymore.
I am disappointed at the cancellation of the series – but not surprised. I find myself watching less and less TV because of the putrid production and camera work. I despise “Reality” dreck. And hand held “shakycam” action is boring Ugly Radio. Since “Memphis Beat” was kind on the eyes and ears, I figured that “someone” would tank this series ASAP. And when it comes to ratings, do they really reflect the viewership, especially those who time shift? I doubt it. I find myself more entertained watching old reruns from the 1970s, than the current slate of mush spewed upon… Read more »
Pam Olson I also won’t be watching TNT any more. they have canceled both of the shows I tuned in for, thinking this channel was really with it airing quality things. I’m upset.
Another great show gone…what’s the deal? Does a show have to be complete brainless garbage to stay on the air? Who is watching the garbage on the air to keep it on the air? The second season probably should have been more like the first and maybe it would have lasted longer. It was by far our favorite show and we fell in love with the great city of Memphis because of it.
