ABC surprised more than a few people when the network renewed Men in Trees for a second season. Great, but where did it go?
Marin Frist (Anne Heche) is a best-selling author and relationship coach who helps women find the right man, using her own life as an example. On a plane trip to attend an Alaska conference, she finds out that her finance has been cheating on her and realizes that she doesn’t know as much as she thought she did. Marin decides to stay in the remote town (where the ratio of men to women is 10 to one) so that she can truly learn how to find and keep a good man, and write a new book. The cast also features Abraham Benrubi, Emily Bergl, Seana Kofoed, Suleka Mathew, Derek Richardson, Sarah Strange, Cynthia Stevenson, Lauren Tom, James Tupper, and John Amos.
Men in Trees debuted on September 12, 2006 on ABC. Trees followed the Fall debut of Dancing with the Stars and attracted over 12.1 million viewers. The second episode lost a third of the audience and attracted just over eight million in its regular timeslot. Despite a season of ratings ups and downs, ABC renewed Men in Trees for a second year on March 21st.
Men in Trees has been off the air however since March 8th. ABC pulled the series to make room for the debut of October Road. Trees was originally scheduled to return on April 12th but ABC has reworked its schedule more than once, delaying the return each time.
ABC has now announced that Trees fans will have to wait a whole longer to see new episodes — probably five months. The remaining five episodes of season one will now be part of Trees’ second season, bringing the sophomore year episode total to 27.
Though frustrating and unusual, this isn’t unprecedented. Grey’s Anatomy and Boston Legal both had 27 episode sophomore years. There have been rumors that ABC may change their mind and decide to air the rest this season. We’ll keep you posted so stay tuned!
My husband and I love, “Men in Trees”. It is the only””feel good “show on tv! It is a real shame, to have had it yanked around so much. It seems to me, that the network is happier appealing to audiences with sex and violence, rather than appealing to ALL age groups. This show reminds me of what tv use to be. The characters are delightful. How about another network picking this show up!

I can’t believe they are cancelling Men in Trees!!! I really only like 3 shows, and Men in Trees was one of them! I think the cast was great and had excellent chemistry–every character was independent with vastly different personalities and problems, but they were ALL interesting. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring it back. : (
I LOVE this show. I waited and waited for the strike to be over so I could watch it again. Now you’re telling me it’s cancelled!!!!! Please re-think your decision as I think you are making a big mistake.
Please bring back this show! It is one of the few I returned to watching after the writer’s strike. The music, writing, characters all work to make it one of the best on network TV.
It was disturbing to wait through the writer’s strike only to have it come back briefly and then taken off without any announcement or explanation; inconsiderate to the viewers of the show. This is one of the few “decent” shows in the drama category wholesome enough to watch and well acted with decent story lines. If your looking for something to pull why not one of the many unnecessary and meaningless reality shows.
This is one of the best shows on t.v. and it keeps getting moved around! The cast is great, the chemistry they all have together, you can tell they enjoy working together! It’s a big mistake to even think about canceling this show. Stop moving it around. !! Please bring it back!!
The reason shows lose some of the viewers is because there always being bumped for some new show to air so they may be on for a few weeks then something else will be on for a few weeks than you,ll go to something else it is hard to get involved with any show because we get so jerked around to have boston legal on instead of men in trees is a real joke that show should have went in the trash along time ago
What happened to Men in Trees? Waited all through writers strike and then finally back but only for a few episodes. Please, please bring this back. Don’t leave us hanging here. Love, love love this show!!!
My husband and I both love “Men In Trees”. There are very few things
we both like on tv. Please bring it back! We really miss it.
It’s a real neat show.
Bring it back, make my life worth going on for, please!! It’s all I have to look forward to each week!! I am disabled and need this in my life!!
Please, please, puleez….bring Men in Trees back!! I could not find it last week or this week!!! What are you doing?? I could not wait for the following week’s episode, and I’m not a youngster. It’s a decent show, compared to some other trash coming on, and the only one without garbage x.rated crap!! There isn’t much left on TV that’s not about nakedness. This show finally portrayed real life, but no, you had to take it off! Why, I ask?????? Bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s all an old, disabled lady had to look forward to!
When I planned on watching Men In Trees on Wed night, it was replaced by something else. This is one show I watch faithfully and it’s always being changed. ABC, stay with this one.
I love “Men in Trees”………………….I watch it while lying sick in bed……..come back Shane………………………………………….Hannahbee
Please dont cancel Men in Trees! It seems like every time there is a good series things get moved around you dont know when it is on or when it will be on.
Please leave it at one date and time and bring it back! What a great show.
I looked forward to it every week. The characters are great and the scenery beautiful.
Please reconsider!!!!
