TNT has faith in their freshman series Men of a Certain Age. So much that they’ve decided to renew it for a second season before the first one is only half aired.
Men of a Certain Age follows the lives of three male friends who are adjusting to the challenges of middle age. The show stars Ray Romano, Andre Braugher, and Scott Bakula, and also features Norma Jean, Braeden Lemasters, Matt Price, Brittany Curran, Brian J. White, Shelly Desai, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Little JJ, Kwesi Boakye, Penelope Ann Miller, and Michael Hitchcock.
The series debuted to big numbers on December 7th, attracting 5.4 million viewers. That represented ad-supported cable’s top launch of 2009 for households and those ages 25-54 (a natural demographic for the series).
The numbers have dropped significantly since the premiere, with the most recent installment hitting a series low of about 2.9 million viewers.
Despite the decline, TNT believes in Men enough to renew the show for another round of 10 episodes. TNT executive VP Michael Wright said, “Men of a Certain Age has been embraced by viewers and critics alike, making our decision to renew an easy one.”
Season one is expected to finish on February 22nd. No word on when Men will return for season two.
What do you think? Are you glad that Men of a Certain Age is continuing or should it have been cancelled?

one of the best shows on tv in a long time! it’s about time there is a program about men that doesn’t make them look like idiots! “raymond” was a funny show, but it portrayed him as an inept idiot who always had to be taken care of in some way or saved in some way by his wife…there have been too many shows like this in the past (particurlarly sitcoms), where the woman is the smarter and often stronger one and who is really the one in charge–not that there is anything wrong with that of course, but it’s… Read more »
I love this show and hope it has a long run. Superior acting, good characterizations, and beyond my expectations in general. It is so good to see a show where the characters (especially the men) are not portrayed as idiots and dolts. Nice to see normal women too, not just smart-alecky wives and mothers exchanging one-liners. All three guys are completely believable. Kudos to everyone involved in bringing this show to TNT.
Love all the episodes but my favorite was the one when Ray and dad was in home improvement store. Ray is trying to get a job for his dad, the store thought he was too old. His dad helps a contractor shopping in the store and ends up getting a job.

Can’t wait for another season but I don’t hear anything about it!
GREAT SHOW, WELL WRITTEN WITH REAL WORLD SITUATIONS.
KEEP IT GOING!!
I’m glad they are bringing back Men of a Certain Age. I think it will find it’s audience in time. I would like to see Ray Romano’s character get a little backbone. He is no doubt talented but it is not flattering to play such weak whimpy characters, (Everybody Loves Raymond). You can be flawed, (Jesse Stone) and still be a strong personality or at least develop into one.
Waiting for it to come back….one of the best shows on network TV….very entertaining with lots of real life situations…
waiting for it to come back. one of the best . very entertaining. LOVE IT!!!!!
I thoroughly enjoy “men”. It shoes men more realistically. The characters are each different, and in different places in their lives. I am so glad that it will still be on TV for a 2nd season. It’s one of the good ones, and hopefully will last at least 10 yrs. There’s lots of info about men, and life, and the problems and challenges they face as they age to write about.
Love it! It’s like Sex and the City for the middle aged man!
I absolutely love this show! Please keep it on the air. It is so real!
Only good show on T.V. Please keep it on.
Love it !!!! Please don’t drop it . We talk about each episode with our friends like we do with old Seinfeld shows.
I’m thrilled to hear it will be back. My husband & I love this show!
