At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

that sux i really liked mercy almost as much as i liked ER. what a bummer
Come on don’t tell me Mercy is cancelled! I just finished watching the entire 22 episodes on Netflix streaming. It’s a great show….damn
I can not believe that this show has been canceled! By far it is better than greys! This is sooo upsetting! I just finished rewatching the first season to get ready for what I thought was soon going to be the second season coming up! Great actors, great story line, kept me on the edge, made me laugh, made me cry. Now just making me upset. I did not meet anyone who did like this show!
Quite dissapointed
This was one show that didn’t have all the “medical” mumbo jumbo. I loved the interaction between characters and I mostly loved that Veronica was a soldier. I’m very dissappointed that the show was cancelled before the second season got aired – I feel that it could’ve gotten better with one more season. Maybe NBC could release a series on DVD to conclude the story line – for those of us who were avid watchers!!!
Loved Mercy! Can’t believe it was cancelled!
I never thought the show would get cancelled, it was the best show on air. I never missed a show and miss it very much. I agree with previous comments there are alot of shows that dont deserve the space on tv kick them off and bring back Mercy. It left it viewers hanging and wanting more of their story.
I am vert disappointed to see that Mercy is not coming back, great show and what a way to leave it hanging. Loved the show, please bring it back.
Loved that show wish it was still on
I think bravo or some other network should pick it up! I really liked that show!

I love Mercy…. Currently on the 10th episode on Netflix.. Didn’t get the chance to watch it when it aired well because I had no idea it existed! They should’ve put it out there better. I’m obsessed, I’m hooked, it’s sad I’ll be done watching it sooon. Bring this show back!
I loved the show… Please bring it back.. There are so many other shows that should be off. I am dissapointed
I cannot beleive this show has been cancelled and they keep crap like The Batchelor, Survivor and all the other reality crap…what a disappointment!
Mercy was a great show. Loved it. Missing it. Thought is would definitely be back.
