At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

Do you think anyone listens at NBC or even other channels (they could buy it surely) to what the viewers want or do they just make up the ratings or what because according to this site there are loads of viewers that want to see a second series – how can they just leave you up in the air. Does anyone from NBC READ THESE COMMENTS???
I am really attached to this show and sorry to see this cancelled. Hope NBC renews this show…Please
Mercy is an amazing show. It was very interesting and had great characters!! I felt like I knew each and everyone of them. I LOVE MERCY!! Bring it back!! And how can it end like that?! I mean come on…really??! Thats not fair!! Also Trauma is cancelled??! I Loved that show too!! This is crap!!
I cannot believe you cancelled the best show of the season. All my fiends are so disappointed that it is gone.
We LOVE Mercy!!!!!!! PLEASE don’t cancel it!!!!!!!! or atleast wrap up the story lines!!!! We will really miss Mercy
Mercy was my favorite show on TV. I never wanted an episode to end and then could hardly wait for the next one. How could they not give it a chance by having a second season. The acting and story line are riveting.
This is my favorite show! Why do networks cancel the good shows???
Well that was one of the best shows the network complained about ratings well it doesn’t help wen they don’t show it for 3 to 4 weeks straight how’s a person suposed to stay interested wen they show 1 or 2 episodes at a time I think they shoud do another season
I LOVED Mercy! It was the only show i watched every week on “on demand”!
It was great!
It should be brought BACK!! Mary
I am very upst I love that show they should at least wrap it up the correct way.
Why is it when a new sho, in which there is good character development, shows up, it’s cancelled? This was an intelligent show with great characters and smart stories. I’ve extremely upset that this show has been cancelled.
You cannot cancel Mercy and leave it open ended like this! I know three households that have been following this show all season. How terribly dissappointing!
My husband and I were very disappointed to see that Mercy has been. This was a great show…why not cancel some of your others and continue Mercy!
Thank you,
Sharon
i don’t get why the networks cancel the best shows and keep the stupid ones. Mercy was a great show…..any chance another network will be smart and pick it up?
How can they end it on that note!! I had just gotten attatched to all of the characters and was excited for the next episode, this was a great drama with a great script and actors, it wasnt even given a chance! What the hell
