The BBC series didn’t exactly bring “magical” ratings to NBC during its short run last summer but Merlin’s second season will still be seen here in the states.
Merlin follows the life of the legendary wizard in early adulthood, living in the court of King Uther, Arthur’s father. The series stars Colin Morgan as Merlin, Bradley James as Prince Arthur, Anthony Head as King Uther, Katie McGrath as Morgana, Angel Coulby as Gwen, Richard Wilson as Gaius, and John Hurt as the voice of the Great Dragon.
A production of BBC One, Merlin has been a big enough success in the UK to be renewed for seasons two and three. NBC picked up the supernatural show and decided to run the first season during the summer of 2009. The ratings weren’t very good and the network has been mum on any plans to bring it back.

Now, there’s word that Merlin is indeed coming back to the US — but not on NBC. Word is that Syfy (also owned by NBC Universal) will begin airing season two of Merlin on Friday, April 2nd; paired with the returning Stargate Universe.
If you need a refresher on season one, Syfy will be airing the episodes during an all-day marathon on March 28th. You can also purchase the official DVD release but that won’t hit stores until April 20th. It’s a five-disc set and will contain all 13 episodes as well as two hours of extras that will include video diaries and a featurette.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear Merlin is returning to the US? Does it matter to you that it’s on Syfy and not NBC?
I love the show. No doubt it’s fantasy but a lot of fun to watch. Better than most of the comedies and reality shows NBC airs. No problem for me that it’s on SyFy now as long as I have cable access.
I am so happy to see that SyFy has the foresight into a wonderfully rich and wholesome series as the BBC’s “Merlin” and that it deserves to continue to grace the US audiences. As far as I’m concerned, it’s NBC’s great loss in not paying attention to what people really enjoy……..it’s always so refreshing to have alternatives to the brain dead sitcoms. Just when you think tv is such a waste of time…….something like this breaks through. Shows such as Merlin makes me want to turn on the tv! Thank you so much for keeping it alive for SO many… Read more »
I love Merlin and am very happy to figure out it’s coming back to the US. I’ve been wondering for months, and I can only hope that this time it’s popular enough to stay.
Awsome thank you 🙂
Admin do you know when season 3 will air for first time somewere in the world??
@Alan: It was just announced in December. I would guess in the fall in the UK.
Is it season 3 that is out on the 28th and is that April???? also what country will it be airing as im in New Zealand.
Season three is still being made. Syfy is showing season one on 3/28 and will start showing season two on 4/2. I’m sorry, I don’t know when it will come to New Zealand.
I’m very happy that Merlin is returning. I think the series is a good one. Now that it’s on a different network I just hope that I can get it here in Canada. I enjoyed watching it because it was one of the less violent shows on. I’ll be checking my tv listings so I won’t miss it on the 28th.
My kids and I very rarely agree on what shows to watch together. Its not sexually dirty
and fits our criteria of good family sci fi. I don’t think it matters to us where you play just keep it coming.
NBC blew this one. This is a great family show and should have been billed as such. My 11 year old has watched all of Season 1 on Hulu and loves it. We’ll be watching on SyFy.
Lorraine I totaly agree with you if its not reality Tv now adays or a soap it just does not last and if it a scifi show than well it may as well not even be on tv . I am a huge scifi fan and hope above all hope that we will win some day very soon 🙂
NBC is so stupid all they can think about is Jay Leno every good show they have they cancel. Lucky for us some one reconizes a good show when they see it and pick it up thanks syfy

Hi To The Cast Of Merlin:
I’m from the U.S. I’ve been writing networks and
Websites requesting this Season 2 be shown here.
I recently learned Season 1 will be run as a marathon
on Sci Fi Network then Season 2 will begin in early
April.
I’m enthusiastic about this series and very happy to
have the opportunity to watch it here.
Thanks to all involved with Merlin!
Many fans around the world find it very entertaining
including me!

I agree 100%, it was/is a good clean series no cussing/sex. I wish and pray that clean tv comes back, I don’t think it ever will, but just in case someone is listening – maybe the kids would be different if they didn’t see all that they see on tv now.
I agree. Merlin is such a clean, but interesting show. I love the whole medieval idea, and the scenery sometimes when they go into the forest is beautiful! I love the castle, and the cast are all gorgeous. I really like it, and there’s no surprises such as no cussing, no two men or two women kissing, cause that seems to be the rage now in Hollywood. The show has a theme and is set in a particular, and it caters to kids as well as families, and is not boring one bit! I watched on the computer all the… Read more »
Joe . I enjoy the show as many other people around the world do if you don’t like it know one is making you watch it . Also people on this site are here because they like it so go do somthing else more constructive with you’r time because we really don’t care what you think 🙂
Merlin is one of the worst shows that i’ve ever seen.It has everything annoying and insulting to the old religion.
Even has the nerve to legitimate pendragon nazi policies killing wizards.Absolutely disgusting and the casting is laughable.I’m so happy this crap got cancelled.Yeah!!!!
I’m glad to hear that Merlin is returning. I enjoyed the summer show. If NBC wasn’t smart enough to keep it that’s their problem. I’ll turn to SyFy no problem!
