Last week, CBS debuted their newest medical drama, Miami Medical. Their previous new medical show, Three Rivers, didn’t last very long. Will this new one fare any better?
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The CBS drama features Lana Parrilla, Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
In its first week on the air, Miami Medical attracted a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. That’s not a very good performance but, in the show’s defense, a lot of network programming was down that night.

Last night, for episode two, the other CBS shows saw their ratings rise but Miami Medical didn’t. The doctor show actually fell instead, to a 1.4 rating and 7.1 million viewers. It ranked in first place in overall viewers and tied for first in the demo. On the downside, in the same timeslot, Numb3rs averaged a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million viewers and it’s very likely to be cancelled.
In comparison to other programming, Miami Medical looks positive but the numbers for the whole night are so bad overall that you have to wonder if CBS can make enough money to justify running expensive dramas.
CBS likely won’t make a decision about the show’s future for awhile. They’ve ordered 13 episodes and, unless the ratings take a dramatic dive, they’ll probably let them all air. It doesn’t hurt that the program’s co-executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
But, what do you think? Is Miami Medical worth your time each week? Cancel or keep it?

I think this show is terrible but it looks like most people on here like it. I only watched the first 2 shows then took it off my DVR.Not worth recording ,at least for me.
Bit of sloppy writing, GI surgeon doing hand surgey , but surely worth watching, Time passes by real soon…
Don’t Cancel this show, No Show can match ER Shoes..but ofcourse they can try to have some good thing of their own…
Like the beautiful first yr resident struggling…just like JD of Scrubs did..
Scrubs too nothing the same, why not give this show a shot
Thumbs Up.
terrible show. makes me want to shoot myself!
I’ve only seen the show once and I thought it was well done. I have put it on my DVR schedule.
keep it. these things take time to develop. I especially like the ensemble. Elisabeth Harnois is a very good actress. She started to show her stuff the second week. But I hope the plots are logical and not totally off the wall
So far, I’m liking the show. Need to see a little better writing, but the show is enjoyable nonetheless. Especially enjoy Jeremy Northam and Lana Parilla. Good, exciting quality programming, so much better than the usual reality tv.
I can only see the show, unfortunately, the web, but I am pleased me to the next episode. A good story and very good actor and so handsome, especially Jeremy Northam
Absolutely keep it. The characters are developing and are really interesting. I also agree with Patty, I am sick to death of Reality TV. Give this decent and exciting, character driven drama a chance to find it’s legs.
Keep it, definitely! Jeremy Northam is a really wonderfully talented actor, and I am loving Miami Medical so far.
I love this show, but unfortunately, as soon as I get hooked on a show, it gets cancelled (Moonlight, Lipstick Jungle, Cashmere Mafia,Three Rivers, Trauma, Dirty Sexy Money, etc.) I hope the networks give it a chance and that it sticks around for a while.
keep it!!! friday night is a tough night for tv so just give it a chance for those of us who are sick of reality tv shows that seem to be overrunning the airwaves.
they should keep miami medical.
I also liked three rivers.
don’t care for mercy
I think Miami Medical is an interesting show that keeps me on the edge of my seat each week. The hour flies by in an instant. My Vote: Keep it!
Could be a good series. I’m not sure how it will fare in Numb3rs old timeslot.
Still up in the air for me. But 3 epidsodes is the minimum before you should even start thinking about pulling it. But I guess not loving it yet is a bad sign according to every network.
