It’s almost impossible to believe, but Mission: Impossible made its debut on CBS 50 years ago today.
Created by Bruce Geller, the action-adventure drama followed the missions of top secret government agents. Over the show’s run, the cast included Greg Morris, Peter Lupus, Peter Graves, Steven Hill, Barbara Bain, Barbara Anderson, Martin Landau, Leonard Nimoy, Lesley Ann Warren, and Sam Elliott.
Mission: Impossible premiered on September 17th, 1966 and ran for seven seasons before ending in 1973. In 1988, ABC revived the series because of a writers strike, but it only lasted for two seasons.
During the original series’ run, Mission: Impossible received several awards. Now, the show is mostly remembered for its iconic opening theme music and for inspiring the popular movie franchise with Tom Cruise.

Creative shows so good from 1960’s spy crime show. Love watching never grew up with this show but my parents binge watching it very beginning well written very few shows pull off good things nowadays style of tv was back in days.
I’d watch the original anytime over what is broadcast now.
