TNT recently wrapped the first season of Monday Mornings, their latest medical drama. Should it return for a second season or be cancelled instead?
Monday Mornings follows the lives of the talented yet flawed doctors at the Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon. The title refers to the tough peer review meetings that are run by the hospital’s sarcastic Chief of Staff. The cast includes Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao, Emily Swallow, and Alfred Molina.
The show started off the season with just 1.36 million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That was less than half of what the Dallas premiere lead-in drew with 2.98 million and a 0.8 demo rating.
The numbers for Monday Mornings didn’t get much better as the weeks wore on. The season ended up averaging just 1.39 million viewers and a 0.3 in the demo.
Given these numbers, it seems highly unlikely that Monday Mornings will be back for a second season.
But what do you think? Would you like to see the show return for a second season or do you think it should be cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t catch on with a bigger audience? Was the title a problem? What would you have called it?
We think Monday Mornings is one of the best new shows on TV. We think it should definitely be renewed for a second season. We loved it!!
Thought provoking AND entertaining! Too much garbage out there. Bring it back PLEASE!
Not since “St. Elsewhere” has there been a medical series that has captivated me and I’m sure other viewers as well. The cast is excellent. Alfred Molina is superb as always. Ving Rhames was a major surprise in the best role he has performed. Cancelling this show would be a crime considering some of the mediocre fare TV viewers are subjected to. If TNT doesn’t renew this series, I hope smarter TV execs from another channel will pick it up and give us a little respite from the ordinary junk some stations pass off as entertainment.
Best show of 2013! Please renew. The characters are interesting, the stories compelling, and the acting excellent. So of course it won’t be renewed! It did not get the promotion it deserved. Everyone I told about it enjoyed watching once they knew there was such a show.
I want that show to be back on the air. If it does not return, then I will not return to TNT.
Monday Mornings is by far the best on the air in any network, with Hawaii Fave O trailing behind it.
Obviously they have their statistics all screwed up. I’m a SiFi lover, and I don’t watch any doctor shows, but hot damn do I really love this show.
I’m 19 and i loved the show. For me this was the show for me to replace House and it didn’t disappoint. I would love if this came back for a season 2 I have seen too many good shows get canceled that, given the time, could have been huge.
I will be terribly disappointed if this show is cancelled. It is one of the best, most intelligent show I have seen in a long time
Yes!!!!!!!
I’d like to see it come back.
The number of decent dramas on TV is dwindling fast.
If it isn’t some inane, usually a half hour, comedy, then there is nothing to watch.
Bring it back …..PLEASE
my husband & I LOVE that show..I really hope it returns.
Monday Mornings is an excellent show. It would be a pity if this program were cancelled and all the junk that is currently on television is renewed: all the so-called reality shows, the low-intelligence comedies, etc. For example, I know that 2 1/2 Men is popular, but I hate to think this is the quality material that people are exposed to so frequently on American television – – no wonder the US is falling behind many other countries in education rankings, etc. I hope that Monday Mornings is effectively promoted and given another chance so that more people can be… Read more »
Great show. Please renew.
I love this show. Watched it after Dallas or DVR it if I was going to be gone. It was a good pace and great cast. I hope they will try again!
The show is outstanding and it doesn’t appeal to the reality TV market – it’s over their heads. Unfortunately the mass numbers aren’t there, but we who are ardent viewers are probably too few. I hope they bring it back.
best show on tv should not be canceled
I loved the show. Watched every week and found the stories interesting and focused on major characters; and at the end of the day………..showed how people are people doing a great job striving to be the best. It gave human insight to peoples feelings. Hope it comes back……
