Seinfeld, a show about a stand-up comic and his friends, is one of the most successful sitcoms in television history. Will Mulaney on FOX be a big ratings success as well? Will it run for years and years? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Mulaney follows a rising stand-up comic John Mulaney (Mulaney) who’s trying to take his career to the next level. He’s both helped and hindered by his friends and mentors. The rest of the cast includes Martin Short, Nasim Pedrad, Seaton Smith, Zack Pearlman, and Elliott Gould.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically the following morning, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
2/28 update: FOX has officially said that there won’t be a second season.
Final season averages: 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.74 million total viewers.

Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Mulaney TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
The show is okay. Not bad, although it could be funnier. Not the best this season, but not the least either. However, Fox shouldn’t have cancelled it.
i think the show is funnier than most sitcoms. the characters don’t seem to have the best chemistry but the writing is good, and i must firmly disagree with those that do not like mulaneys stand up.
Please don’t cancel the show is very original, and the cast amazing. I tuned in every week to watch one, of the highlights Martin Short. Good to see him back at it. I would rate the overall show B+
Seriously….. don’t cancel. It is funny in the same way Seinfeld and Big Bang were in the beginning. It’s following will grow. The actors will mesh and grow with the show. A show has to have more time to really say it has failed. The networks always want fireworks right now. If they cancel it I hope another network picks it up. They should put in a better time slot though.
I can’t believe that it stayed on the air as long as it did. Such bad deliveries of mediocre lines only perpetuated by amateur acting abilities of most of the cast. Mulaney’s stilted voice and awkward body language made it difficult to get through. I’ve seen better and funnier acting in high school plays. I only watched it to see Martin Short. But even his abilities can’t save an entire show that really didn’t have much going for it in the first place.
I think they should just do Lou & Oscar a la Odd Couple or Sam & Cat.
Come on people he show is great most of the time its clean fun stop over thinking things better then most trash that is on tv
CANCEL!!! Seriously the worst show I have seen in at least the past 15 years. I don’t think there’s ever been a 30 minute sitcom that I couldn’t force myself to at least finish until this. I actually thought it might have been an hour long as I was watching because it seemed like it had been at least more than a half hour. It was less than fifteen minutes into and I just couldn’t take it any longer. I was actually upset that I had lost those minutes of my life on something so ridiculously horrible. Stick to stand… Read more »
Perhaps keep the show, but replace John Mulaney, with another, funny actor (a la Darrin on Bewitched) as Mulaney….
Darin was not replaced based on comedic performance, but due to back pain making him unable to continue. Not sure if that was the point you are making, but it wasn’t the best comparison.
It’s hard to believe this show is on T.V. . and it’s harder still to believe that I watch it every week. But “Mulaney” is a case of something being so unbelievably bad that it’s good! Mulaney seems to be the most unlikely guy to star in his own sitcom. His stand up comedy at the beginning of each episode and his line delivery throughout the show may be the worst I have ever seen. I literally shake my head in disbelief as I watch the show. But it’s like when you are stuck watching people sing Karaoke .. no… Read more »
The show has been uneven, but I think it has potential. Just get rid of Elliott Gould’s character, who is cloying and annoying.
