Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

This show is somewhat of a new concept, so I can see how people may need some time to give it a chance, but that’s is all they would need to do… the writing and characters on the show were all brilliant and believable!!! ABC truly made a big mistake in canceling this show. Ugh!
I loved the show…my husband and I have been looking forward to its return! What a disappointment that it’s not coming back. Hopefully, they will air the last episodes.
you can watch 8 episodes on hulu they get intense especially when rolly comes back
I absolutely love this show and i really got into it.
I’m really pissed off that it was cancelled. ABC family is dumb for taking it off. I watched all 8 episodes in 2 days. But i think it should somehow be put back on another channel immediately! Or atleast put it out on DVD. I would really appreciate it, and i think a lot of other viewers would also.
BRING IT BACK!
Oh man, I just discovered this series online and absolutely loved it. The only problem with watching it live was that my roommates overrun the tv on Thursday night and I’m not one to usually watch television anyway. Definitely a sign that it was a great show though. I really hope to find new episodes available at some point in time.
I just saw the complete season of My Generation and think that this is probably the best show I have ever seen. It is so powerful and meaningful and makes you think about where you are in your own life and what you are doing with yourself. I also liked that it was filmed like a documentary which really gravitates you to the characters. I hope they continue the show and hope they market it enough for people to know that this show is really the best show out there.
if this show is completed and picked up by another network i will definitely watch it, i watched all 8 episodes back to back (1 day) on Hulu and loved it. sad how other shows that are not worth the time remain…
My Generation is amazing! I can’t believed they canceled it! I hope they bring it back. I only just finished seeing the 8 episodes on Hulu (in one day!). I hope some other network picks it up, it is my favorite show.
My Generation was brilliant. Please bring it back!
My Generation was a surprisingly good show! Due to my busy schedule I managed to watch all three episodes on demand and was upset when I didn’t see a fourth. The roles on the show appeared more convincing then the many reality shows that have managed to take over on every network. Please bring it back. S/B: People who are unfamiliar with the show are less likely to purchase the remaining episodes on DVD.
this was an awesome show. one of my favorites. PLEASE bring it back!!!
i love the show and have seen all 8 of the 1st episode and i would love it if the showed continued. im sure that if they started to show it back on t.v. there would be no more bad reviews.
I went crazy when I saw it on hulu and it was so easy for me to watch every single episode getting sucked in by every single character. I am INCREDIBLY sad that this show was cancelled. In my eyes, it was honestly going to be one of the best on ABC. PLEASE SOMEBODY ELSE PICK IT UP!!!
I loved My Generation!! I recorded it too because I usually can’t plan to sit down and watch shows when they actually come on. I was so sad when the show was cancelled, it was my new favorite! I would definitely buy a DVD of the rest of the episodes. I heard a rumor that the show was going to be released on a different channel – that made me super excited, but I guess that’s not feasible once people sign contracts? And even though the show was cancelled – the third episode should have been aired because Brenda and… Read more »
My Generation was my favorite show. I never had time to watch it, so I recorded it on my DVR. It was a show that gave me a little confidence to be something when I graduate. Weird how I can make an inference like that only after two episodes, but I feel that the show is very well documented. I loved the characters and the twists and turns it had. I’m really upset that it’s cancelled. I would buy the DVD…I WILL buy the DVD
