Though it was promoted ad nauseum during the coverage of the Summer Olympics, NBC could find few friends for their My Own Worst Enemy series. The TV show has been cancelled after airing just four episodes.
My Own Worst Enemy follows the strange life of Henry Spivey (Christian Slater), a hum-drum suburbanite with a wife and two kids (played by Madchen Amick, Taylor Lautner, and Bella Thorne). Unknown to Henry and his loved ones, he has a dual identity as a secret operative and trained killer named Edward Albright.
Edward works for a superspy organization under supervisor Mavis Heller (Alfre Woodard) and is partnered with friend and fellow operative Tom Grady/Raymond Carter (Mike O’Malley). Others in the series include Omid Abtahi, Saffron Burrows, James Cromwell, Sarai Givaty, Mark Ivanir, Mindy Sterling, Missy Yager, Eugenia Yuan, and Louis Giambalvo.
The show debuted on October 13, 2008 on NBC. Despite a lot of high-profile promotion, the premiere attracted only 7.27 million viewers and a 3.0/8 rating/share in the 18-49 demographic. The following week, the numbers dropped to 5.69 million and a 2.6/6. The most recent episode hit a low of 4.27 million and 1.8/5. Though Heroes has been struggling this season, Worst Enemy has been losing over 40% of its lead-in audience and more than that in the key demographic.

NBC has announced that they are cancelling the series following the completion of its ninth episode. It’s been confirmed that the network plans to continue to air the series until all of the episodes have been shown.
If Worst Enemy goes uninterrupted, the series finale should air on December 15th, the same night as Heroes’ so-called “fall finale.” Because of the abrupt cancellation, fans of Worst Enemy aren’t expected to be given any kind of conclusion to the show’s ongoing storylines. That’s enough to make even mild-mannered Henry angry. Stay tuned!

All of you people need to get a life, that show sucked from the beginning.
My whole family loves this show. If we’re not home to watch it; we dvr it. I’m a big fan of CSI Miami as well, but will bypass watching it to watch Christian Slater and My Own Worst Enemy. The person(s) that thought up the Edward/Henry plot is a genius. Considering the time of night the show is on and the competition from other channels it may be better to change the time slot of this show before canceling. This show has drama, suspence, and we never know what twists and turns the show will take each night. I look… Read more »
I think you are all on crank!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously this show is so good its better than Heroes. God at least give it a different try. move it to a different time slot move it something its got to compete with other shows like heroes, CSI: Miami, and its on at a late time. If you cancel this show you are really off your rocker. I mean my god do you know how many people love this show not to mention Christain Slater, Taylor Lautner, and other people we want to watch this show and of you dont bring it back… Read more »
NBC you SUCK!!!……
Canceling the show is down right insanity. Whatever, NBC is gonna lose my view this time…I would appreciate it if another network continue on with the show.
NBC need to leave MOWE alone…its the only thing I watch on that station….if NBC cancels I hope another station will pick it up
HOW COULD THEY CANCEL THIS?!??
Honestly it was great! Well thought out and written properly. the acting was outstanding
and hello
TAYLOR LAUTNER WAS IN THIS!!
I still watch it.
Love that show! What’s wrong with NBC?? They should cancel their reality tv shows instead…
I’m done with NBC, the only two shows I watch on that network are Heroes and Enemy, with Enemy gone, I will never ever invest my time in another show NBC puts out. Who decides after the FOURTH episode to cancel something? Give it a chance to build an audience, and if a timeslot isn’t working, at least give it ONE move to see what happens. Judging everything on an antiquated ratings system that doesn’t take into account all the variables modern technology provides is not the smartest move.
Why can’t we encourage the writers to create short stories and novels from one or different points of view? Slater, Woodard, and some of the other actors could take turns recording them. We could listen to the stories while commuting, etc. The show has given us the visuals, so all we need now are the words. Star Trek demonstrated the tenacity of fandom. We have a great background story, setup and characters, here. It wouldn’t even matter if all the actors aged. They could film, again, years from now if we had the stories to keep the vision alive. I… Read more »
first the black donnellys now this screw nbc!!!!!!!!!
NBC Sucks. This is one of the best shows I have ever seen, I think they need to check their ratings again.
i loved this show…i planned time each week to watch this show. It made you think — i thought CS was awesome!!! I am so sick of spending time getting attached to a show and than having it taken away. It makes me not want to vest any more of my time in new shows. very disappointed
Hello…..does anyone remember the show Alias????? A small hit for NBC that made you think? It just happened to be in a better time slot. My boyfriend and I each DVR this show and plan date nights around it. We love it!!!! NBC…please don’t take away our turducken!!!!
This is really dissapointing, one of the only truly imaginative shows is going to be axes. Dammit…. It’s times like these I wish I had an iq lower then 30 so I could sit and enjoy all of the cheap reality bullsh*t that’s going to replace this show. Congratulations NBC for paving the way for years of mind numbing and totally unimaginative tv programmin
