In May 2016, ABC cancelled the Nashville TV series after four years. Luckily for the drama’s fans, the studio was able to make a deal with CMT to pick up season five. Now, Nashville was never a hit in the ratings on ABC but we know the numbers will surely be a lot lower on CMT, a small cable channel. Will the ratings be good enough for the series to be renewed for a sixth season or, will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
In season five, the Nashville TV show continues to follow the lives and careers of country music superstars Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) and Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton). The rest of the CMT cast includes Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Chris Carmack, Jonathan Jackson, Lennon Stella, and Maisy Stella. Recurring performers are expected to include David Alford, Ed Amatrudo, Kourtney Hansen, Scott Reeves, Kyle Dean Massey, Rhiannon Giddens, Bridgit Mendler, Jen Richards, Murray Bartlett, Cameron Scoggins, Joseph David-Jones, Joanie Stewart, and Christian Coulson. Will Chase is expected to guest as Luke Wheeler.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

11/17 update: CMT has announced Nashville will end after season six on CMT. Details here.
Love the show and the fresh, unique music it offers. Been watching since the beginning, and looking forward to season 6 & hopefully season 7!
Love this show! Love the singers and actors. Hope it stays for many seasons to come!
Do not cancel this show. I love the storylines. Different from other shows.
I’ve binge watched this show. By far 2 thumbs up. Love the story lines, and cried with this show. Some point in every episode hits home in some way. Do not cancel the show.
Renew it. It’s a great show. I didn’t watch Nashville on a regular basis the first three seasons but I haven’t missed an episode since it’s move to CMT. I love the show , the characters and the music. It’s nice to see the connection and support between Deacon and the girls
Keep It On. PLEASE
It’s a good show but I think it’s too soon for Deacon to have a love interest storyline. The writers should concentrate more on the other characters.
Love the show, been watching since the beginning! Dont cancel
I love the show! Plesse dont cancel
Watch this show religiously from episode one on my pvr. There is a Nashville army of viewers who pvr
I do not like the show and it has nothing to do with Reina. It has to do with bad, inconsistent, irrational writing. These writers did not watch the previous seasons, Juliette’s father was killed in the army and in the new season he died on the way to the grocery store. They do not give Haiden scenes, concentrating too much on the thousands of new characters, Madi and Daphne. It does not interest us and it has nothing to do with Reina.
Rayna died so obviously it’s no longer about her.
Nashville is by far one of the most inspiring shows I have ever seen. It is a story of courage. This show is telling the young and older generation to never give up on your dreams, take action, see to the end and do with appreciate of your family and friends. I think this show is so powerful that has even inspired me to write again and pass over my fears.
Love, love, love this show. Please do not cancel…waiting for the rest of season 5.
I have loved this show from the beginning, but it may be time to end it. The plot is wandering. It has no clear direction. End it on s high more.
I have watched the show since the very first episode. It never was about Rayna only. There’s an entire family and legacy to build on. The network needs to monitor the people watching on Hulu. There’s a huge following for Nashville!!
I love the show. Sure it will change without Rayna, but I believe the rest of the cast is fantastic. Give it a chance.
Love the show!!!!!!!!!!!!
