Recently, ABC cancelled their beloved Wednesday night TV show, Nashville. While there won’t be a fifth season on the alphabet network, the series may not be over yet.
The Nashville TV show follows the lives and careers of country music superstars Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) and Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton). The rest of the cast includes Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Eric Close, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack, Lennon Stella, Sam Palladio, Maisy Stella, Will Chase, and Oliver Hudson.
Following the cancellation news, Lionsgate TV has reportedly been shopping Nashville to other channels in hopes of continuing the series for a fifth season. While the studio certainly has financial incentive to keep the show going, it may be a tough sell.
The ratings have not been very good which is why ABC dropped it. The fourth season’s been averaging a 0.96 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.19 million viewers. Year-to-year, that’s down by 28% in the demo and down by 19% in total viewership.
Also, while fans are currently clamouring for Nashville to continue (#BringBackNashville), many series that have been picked up by other channels have not done very well in their new homes. For whatever reason, many viewers just don’t follow their show to another channel.
But, what do you think? Would you watch a fifth season of Nashville on another channel? Do you think viewership could improve on cable or on a streaming service?
Please bring it back
Nashville’s actors, writers, and directors represented the best that today’s television has to offer. It is an indictment of ABC that they would be so small-minded and short-term oriented to let one of the most thoughtful shows slip from their grasp. I will be looking for Nashville from a more enlightened source.
Yes I will watch it regardless of network. Good show, great cast. Better than some of the shows on ABC. Can’t understand why it was cancelled.
I would follow the show. Nashville has an awsome group of actors
It was one of only four or five shows I watch on abc, nbc or cbs. It is a shame abc cancelled it. One more hour I’ll spend on cable rather then network. Your advisors are going to kill the networks!
I will watch no matter where it comes, also buying every CD and DVD etc! Just want more 🙂 #BringBackNashville
I would be thrilled to watch season 5.
Bring Nashville back!
ABC proved itself to be the channel going downhill. You could have done one more show or at least done a two hour finale. ABC thought it would be a good idea just to throw an ending together and leave Juliete and Avery storyline in limbo? I am done with ABC!
I can’t believe the way the show ended. It would be fine if the show was coming back for another season, but to leave us up in the air, it stinks. Hopefully another station will pick it up. It was a good series. There are other shows out there that are bad and shouldn’t be on TV.Bring it back!
Who decided to leave a cliff hanger loke that
I do hope that Nashville comes back. It’s much better than those stupid reality shows. I just don’t want to pay to watch. I love the music.
So true
I LOVE the show!!! I hope it isn’t cancelled. I watch it faithfully and would be devastated if it were cancelled. I even saw the traveling tour last summer in LA. It was great.
I would definitely watch more seasons of Nashville. I love the story the characters and especially the music. But please put it on a channel everyone can watch. Hulu and direct tv and other streaming networks are not something everyone had or can get. Can’t you try Cmt Or Gac, or family channel. Even if it does not get picked up couldn’t they put out a 2 hour movie that ties everything up better than finale. I am very very sad to see it end.
Yes. I. Also. Agree. Nashville. Should definitely. Come. Back. On. A. Network like. Cmt. Or. Gmc. I. Really. Hopefully juliette. Doesn’t. Die. That. Would. B. So. Sad
I would hope that they bring Nashville back but if not The fans at least diiserve a better ending than what we received in the series finale. To leave a cliff hanger on Juliette who was one of the biggest stars of the show was disappointing. Bring it ba
YES please bring Nashville back. I watch on Hulu and LOVE it!!!!!!
