Recently, ABC cancelled their beloved Wednesday night TV show, Nashville. While there won’t be a fifth season on the alphabet network, the series may not be over yet.
The Nashville TV show follows the lives and careers of country music superstars Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) and Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton). The rest of the cast includes Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Eric Close, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack, Lennon Stella, Sam Palladio, Maisy Stella, Will Chase, and Oliver Hudson.
Following the cancellation news, Lionsgate TV has reportedly been shopping Nashville to other channels in hopes of continuing the series for a fifth season. While the studio certainly has financial incentive to keep the show going, it may be a tough sell.
The ratings have not been very good which is why ABC dropped it. The fourth season’s been averaging a 0.96 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.19 million viewers. Year-to-year, that’s down by 28% in the demo and down by 19% in total viewership.
Also, while fans are currently clamouring for Nashville to continue (#BringBackNashville), many series that have been picked up by other channels have not done very well in their new homes. For whatever reason, many viewers just don’t follow their show to another channel.
But, what do you think? Would you watch a fifth season of Nashville on another channel? Do you think viewership could improve on cable or on a streaming service?
YES!!!! And they totally left it opened enough to continue it.
Yes,everytime ABC has a show worth watching they cancel it. I will watch where ever you take it.
I am very upset at the thought of not being able to watch Nashville anymore. Very stunned that ABC has dropped it. I would watch a 5th season anywhere. Love the characters, story line and music. Very upset at ABC for dropping it.
Why as a network would you cancel a show that has followers that are invested in the series?? I have to understand that and on ones debut cancelling after 3 shows you’ve already banked say 8 episodes let it play out… patience is something all the networks need to re- learn….
I would definetly watch another season and more if available.
If ABC can’t do the right thing I hope another network will step up.
Definitely would would continue to watch if aired on TV and not Netflix or Hulu as don’t subscribe. Love the characters and where they are going and the music is great
PLEASE, PLEASE KEEP Nashville ON TV. HE TALENT IS GREAT.
Anytime you find a series your so obsessed with & make it a point to work your schedule around their program time…Yep you guessed it “They Cancel It” I hope another Network picks up this series as I would definitely say bring on season 5!!!
Yes I would watch. I think they May be had too many stories at one time
I would definitely watch Nashville wherever it went. I looked forward to Wednesdays just to watch Nashville. Please bring it back
With so many B.S reality shows on tv it’s hard to find one with as much heart as Nashville! Covering multiple aspects of life’s challenges with a beauty and grace not often seen on television.
This show is the equivalent of a great book taken away half finished! If shows like The Family Guy or The Batchlor can manage to run season after season why can’t a great show like Nashville???
Because those shows are inexpensive to produce compared to Nashville. A Quality show showcasing real talent cost too much, so ABC canceled it in favor of more crappy TV. What else is new?
I will be following Nashville to another network. that is in my package. ABC, CBS, NBC. I’d like toeave it where it is, but, I will follow them. I haven’t missed an episode.
A resounding YES !!! I absolutely am counting on some savvy network to pick up NASHVILLE – they will NOT BE SORRY !!!
Please keep Nashville going I love this show
I will watch Nashville on any network….PLEASE bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!
