Last season, the NBC schedule had a few ratings successes but the peacock network had a lot more misses. How will their shows do this time around? Which will be cancelled or renewed? Stay tuned.
NBC shows this season (so far): America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, Aquarius, Better Late Than Never, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, The Biggest Loser, The Blacklist, Blindspot, The Carmichael Show, Caught On Camera With Nick Cannon, Crowded, Dateline NBC, Dateline: On Assignment, Game of Silence, Grimm, Heartbeat, Hollywood Game Night, Heroes Reborn, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Little Big Shots, Maya & Marty, The Mysteries Of Laura, The Night Shift, The Player, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Shades Of Blue, Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge, Superstore, Telenovela, Truth Be Told, Undateable, The Voice, and You, Me and the Apocalypse.
There’s lots of data that NBC execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but the ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
hey guys, whats the circulation/viewership of NBC5’s broadcasts. I need help please, i will fail this class.
Moving Aquarius to Saturday night was a death sentence for this wonderful series. Most people are so busy on the weekend…And then football season comes along, and who has time to see it online or on tv. Look at how the ratings plummeted when the show was moved from Thurs. to Sat. I hope Aquarius will be renewed for Season 3; the writers and actors deserve better scheduling/another year and to be consistent about showing it on the same week night.
Shouldn’t it say renewed in front of Americas Got Talent?
Yes. Thanks for the catch!
Why is no one talking about night shift? It is a great show with great characters and tremendous actors.
Please renew.
So, where’s the logic in NBC cancelling Game Of Silence…and Aquarius gets another season? CHECK THE NUMBERS. SMH.
Aquarius is produced by ITV. It is a cheaply made show that airs during the summer therefore low ratings are required for success. NBC payed very little for it so even with its low ratings they still made a profit.
Game of Silence is (co) produced by NBC and aired during the regular season. Networks have different standards for shows that air during the summer and shows that air during the regular season. Even though Game of Silence was slightly higher rated, it’s fair to say NBC didn’t make much money from it.
I love Aquarius I hope it is renewed for season 3 David Duchavany is fantastic.
Plz keep Games of Silence on for next season.
You need to bring Game of Silence back! It’s disgusting how NBC takes the good shows off air after 1 season and puts dumb shows on that no cares to watch! Next Sunday it says season finale but really the show gets canceled! Ridiculous ! It keeps u on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what really happened to them at Quitman and now they finally find the bones of Petey and God knows how many other kids!! Just when shows get interesting you pull the plug! Just like Mysteries of Laura a funny kick ass show… Read more »
Mysteries of Laura was a bombastic disaster and should have been cancelled after year one. It was never a Kick Ass show. it had an extremely overpaid lead actress whose best days are WAY, WAY behind her.
I think NBC needs to keep Game Of Silence! What is wrong with the people making the decisions. I dont get how a show using brawn and no brain gets renewed! This is the best Ive seen in a very long time.Keep it! Give it a chance! Excellent acting! It pulls u in! I look forward to it.
The show had crappy ratings and shows with crappy ratings get cancelled. If you don’t know what ratings are or understand how they work, take a day to educate yourself.
It’s “Game Of Silence’ week!!
TOMORROW June 2nd (ep. 8+9..2 hours!!) and SUNDAY June 5th 1 hr. NBC finale. Live tweet with cast & crew!!
#GameOfSilence…#SaveGOS
I really hope the peacock gets to be the top rated network in overall viewership this season. It would be a first since 2004.
PLEASE, PLEASE do NOT cancel The Blacklist! PLEASE.
