The saga of NBC’s medical disaster series continues.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
Back in October, NBC indicated they weren’t ordering any additional episodes of Trauma beyond the initial 13 episode order, effectively cancelling the series. Then, in the wake of the failure of The Jay Leno Show, they ordered seven more episodes to fill primetime space.
When Trauma returned to the NBC schedule after a three month hiatus, the ratings were even worse than they were back in November. If the execs weren’t happy with the ratings before, they were very likely regretting their decision to order additional installments.
According to the Futon Critic, NBC has now cut their additional episode order from seven to five installments. That brings the season total to 18 episodes.
The last episode of the season, and almost certainly the series, will air on April 26th. No word yet if the producers adapted episode 18 so that it could serve as a series finale or if viewers will be left hanging.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Trauma’s episode order has been cut? Are you holding onto hope that it will be back for season two?

PLEASE keep it going!!! My whole family LOVES watching it. My husband and I are both Paramedics and there are alot of things on the show we can relate with. Just give it time and the ratings will go up! Do you all remember EMERGENCY? Well this is just the up to date version 🙂 and I would have to say it is so much better with how things are really done in the field. NBC please bring Trauma back!
i love trauma and actor Cliff Curtis is great on the show i’m so sad that its gone i like house also but this was better all the way
Why would NBC cancel such a great show? I’m thinking they need to do a better job of promoting it to new viewers and cancel the contract(s) of the exec(s) who make such dumb decisions that keep NBC down in the ranks. Booooo!
Please give us a second season of Trauma NBC! It’s one of the best written shows on TV and deserves a second season! The characters are compelling, and I couldn’t wait to see what happened each week. The last show left us hanging! Trauma is SOOO much better than most shows, and has just the right mix of action and drama. I’m tired of the soap operas most medical shows have become. Please give us more Trauma!
My best friend and I are hooked on Trauma. Cliff Curtis is a great actor. The entire cast is wonderful. The show is different than any other. If the rating declined after it was removed from the air, it was because people did not know it was put back on. Please bring back Trauma. We love the show.
Love Trauma…give it another shot! More action than the other hospital series, was an avid E/R watcher for its entire life!

My husband and I just discovered this show recently and love it!!! And now I’m just learning that it’s going to be cancelled? I really wish they would reconsider and just give it a try in another time slot. With maybe a little more promotion. I just happened to stumble on it and thought it was a brand new show. I had no idea that it had already been on for a while!
PLEASE DONT TURN TRAUMA OFF! I LOVEEEEEEEEEE ITTTTTTTT! HIGHLIGHT OF MY WEEK!
I absolutely love this show. Why would you cancel a show that people love to watch. Everybody I know watches this show, as well as my family. Dumb move NBC………But wait, its what NBC wants and not the people who actually watch the shows, right?
The only way to get the message to the exec’s at NBC is to hurt their pocketbooks – advertisers. Let their advertisers know that you will not be watching the NBC network any more due to their lack of commitment on really good shows. If the advertisers start pulling their spots with the pocketbooks attached NBC will change their ways.
I agree w/ Amanda’s comments regarding DVR’s not counting towards ratings. Just about everyone I know DVR’s a show rather than watching it live. Especially if you’re not going to be home to watch the show. Are we still back in the stone age that DVR recording ( which can easily be tabulated & captured) doesn’t count towards ratings?! I refuse to give up hope though that the show is gone.
I agree with Katie. Every NBC show that I’ve ever been interested in, they cancel. I may not get to watch it the night it’s on, but I do record and watch it later. I swore off NBC when they canceled Friday Night Lights, I guess I shouldn’t have given them a second chance to hook me on a show only to be disappointed again.
I don’t understand who the people are that make the ratings. Everyone I know loves this show. NBC seems to be cancelling every good show.
I love this show, as do my sister, nephew and adult daughter….all of whom are VERY disappointed with NBC. Another dumb move by TV execs who don’t have a clue as to who their viewing audience is. NBC sucks as a channel anymore. I’d rather watch CBS.
We really enjoy watching Trauma. Please keep in on the air NBC. I agree with everyone that people didn’t now that it was back and also it was on opposite of Dancing WTS. Give it a chance and the ratings will go up.
