The saga of NBC’s medical disaster series continues.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
Back in October, NBC indicated they weren’t ordering any additional episodes of Trauma beyond the initial 13 episode order, effectively cancelling the series. Then, in the wake of the failure of The Jay Leno Show, they ordered seven more episodes to fill primetime space.
When Trauma returned to the NBC schedule after a three month hiatus, the ratings were even worse than they were back in November. If the execs weren’t happy with the ratings before, they were very likely regretting their decision to order additional installments.
According to the Futon Critic, NBC has now cut their additional episode order from seven to five installments. That brings the season total to 18 episodes.
The last episode of the season, and almost certainly the series, will air on April 26th. No word yet if the producers adapted episode 18 so that it could serve as a series finale or if viewers will be left hanging.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Trauma’s episode order has been cut? Are you holding onto hope that it will be back for season two?

I am a little angry that they are getting rid of the show….. I really like this show and I will have nothing else to watch that night. Please leave Trauma!!
I dont belive ! This is first TV Show i really like to watch. I really wana see season 2 PLS dont CANSEL IT!!!!!! Kiss From Serbia!!!!!
Please don’t cancel. NBC’s poor programming has pushed us to watch shows on other stations after being loyal NBC viewers for years. If Trauma is cancelled, there will be no point in watching NBC at night.
I hope Trauma is renewed for another season. It is a great show! Please don’t cancell it.
Please don’t cancel the show!! It is one of the most interesting new shows on nbc. There is so much potential for growth on all of the characters. Just look how much they have developed the character of Rabbit from the beginning. The 1st responders portion is also a different and interesting angle for the medical dramas rather than being based in the hospital.
Well, I didn’t particularly like the way NBC handled the whole Conan thing, but I was willing to still watch shows on NBC because I like the show Trauma and 30 Rock. I’ve been DVRing The Office, along with those 2 shows, but it’s pretty much jumped the shark. Go ahead NBC, cancel Trauma and I will in turn cancel The Office from my DVR. I will probably watch 30 Rock until you cancel it or run it into the ground like you did The Office. Whichever comes first. But considering I have houseplants who can make better programming decisions,… Read more »
Guys, I’ll ask again.
Sign the petition to keep Trauma on the air.
Here’s the link: http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/trauma-petition/
It’s a link for the TV Series Finale website.
I’ve sent a email to NBC asking for the show to continue, and even told about this petition. It would be great if more people could do the same.
Thank you.
Sooo, except for the Law & Orders, what shows on NBC *are* considered doing well in the ratings? And why do we, the viewer get punished with losing decent (potentially great) shows because “the powers that be” screwed up with The Jay Leno debaucle? So guess I’ll change the channel to TNT; they picked up Southland maybe they can make room for Trauma as well. TNT seems to understand that a show can thrive when it can be found by the viewers in a regular schedule on a consistant basis. Hmmm what a concept.
They should give it some more time. People will find it, if they promote it. Just like Castle, The Mentalist, Criminal minds, NCSI (how many seasons did it take that show to climb?)
DARN!! This is a great show. I really dislike most medical shows but this one is really good. They really get you into that characters and dealing with first responders is way more interesting than watching the sex antics that all of the other medical series seem to focus on. Of course NBC is last in ratings because they can’t recognise a great show when the have one. They would rather focus on reality stupidity than good writing and story telling!!
It kind of pisses me off because lately ive had to work monday night. Meaning i miss the episode. I end up watching it the next day on hulu, on the nbc web site or on demand. I bet that there are other like me who love the show but never get to watch it when it’s on. with the way times are now that sometimes is the only way people get to watch the show. why don’t they take that into consideration before canceling the show. watching a show on tv, at a certain time is hard. Life just… Read more »
