The battle for humanity’s survival is ending earlier than hoped The FOX network has cancelled the neXt TV series so there won’t be a second season, a victim of low ratings and COVID-19.
An action-thriller series, the neXt TV show stars John Slattery, Elizabeth Cappuccino, Jason Butler Harner, Fernanda Andrade, Eve Harlow, Aaron Moten, Michael Mosley, Evan Whitten, and Gerardo Celasco. The story revolves around Silicon Valley pioneer Paul LeBlanc (Slattery) who built a fortune and his legacy on his world-changing innovations.
After discovering that one of his own creations — a powerful artificial intelligence called “neXt” — might spell doom for humankind, Paul tried to shutter the project, only to be kicked out of the company by his own brother (Harner). When a series of unsettling tech mishaps points to a potential worldwide crisis, LeBlanc joins forces with Special Agent Shea Salazar (Andrade) and her unique and talented team. Now, they are the only ones standing in the way of a potential global catastrophe, fighting an emergent superintelligence that will deploy the immense knowledge it has gleaned from the data all around us to recruit allies, turn people against each other, and eliminate obstacles to its own survival and growth.
The first season of neXt averages a 0.30 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.67 million viewers. Just two episodes have been aired thus far. The third has been released on Hulu but didn’t air on FOX because of the World Series. It’s the network’s lowest-rated show out of the 10 current series.
Variety reports that FOX plans to air the remaining seven installments of the season. The network also cancelled the low-rated Filthy Rich series today. Both were reportedly cancelled thanks to low ratings and rising production costs due to COVID-19.

What do you think? Have you seen the neXt TV series on FOX? Would you have watched a second season of this action-thriller series?
Why? Why has been canceled? It is too close of truth? Really? I guess that was censored!
Why do they always cancel the good shows, finally had one with a great story line and great actors , they should poll the people hope they realize too alot of people tape it and watch another day….lost another great show…thanks FOX
My wife and I were looking forward to a 2nd season. Who’s the Einstein that made the decision to cancel this show??? This show was way better than most of the mindless crap on television these days.
Bring back next
So typical, they cancel all shows that don’t have nudity. Seems like all people like these days are shows with nudity. We actually really liked this show and based on the fact that there’s no nudity I’m not surprised they canceled it. We watch all shows on demand and most people I know record or do the same. The way you are counting numbers isn’t accurate. Such a bummer!
As network shows go, it was one of the best…seriously, revamp your practice of rating a successful show and bring this one back already.
I really enjoyed the series and would like to see season 2
Fox Seriously you cancelled this show? I know quite a few people who watch this. You say the ratings were low. Well most people I know work and tape the show and watch it when they can. Your system of rating is based on who watches it during the time you air it. Flawed. Bring Back Next!!!
It was a very suspenseful show that had lots to offer
I enjoyed this show and hoped it was coming back. I thought it had a great deal of potential and hope the ‘decision makers’ reconsider this shortsighted decision to cancel this show. It deserves a 2nd season especially after some of the other mind-numbing nonsense out there now. Please bring it back.
Thank you!
I loved this show there are worst shows on than this.
Yes! Would love a second season of Next
Yes…
Yes,I would love to see a second season, and more. Love the show.
I loved this series, made you think about AI and what could happen to our world as we know it now. I hope the network would consider another season of this thought- provoking show.
I loved the show! I can’t believe it was canceled. Please bring it back!
