It was another 0.6 rating this week with 1.73 million. While it’s positive that the series didn’t lose any points, this is still way lower than what the network had last year.
Season average: 0.6 demo with 1.79 million.
Episode 02-01: Friday, 9/23/11
Year-to-year, the premiere of Nikita was down by 57% with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.85 million viewers. That’s not a completely fair comparison though considering that the series is now on Friday nights. Compared to last season’s debut of Smallville, in the same timeslot, the network was down 54%. Either way you look at it, Nikita had a terrible kick off for the new season.
Reference point: The 2010-11 season averaged a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.37 million viewers.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Nikita TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a third season?

It’s such a brilliant show. Hugely under-rated and unappreciated. I hope to hell CW don’t cancel it, it would be such a waste. It’s great to see a show that isn’t like the average reality tv crap we constantly see nowadays. It’s disgusting how something as rubbish as Jersey Shore gets such ratings but a show as brilliant as Nikita is neglected. But then again, it wouldn’t be the first time a show with such potential is chucked down the trash. Moonlight, Firefly, Dollhouse…
Renew!
Who else can do martial arts in her underwear!!
I really hope the CW gives the green light for a third season when the time comes : D I flove Mikita and even the Nikita / Alex relationship. They entwine action and emotional sequences so well, it’s a show that is flawlessly done and acted by Maggie Q and Shane West. Second favourite show on the CW Network, only after TVD.
The Friday night slot will be the first to kill it if anything does. Hopefully, it survives because it is a great show.
Absolutely renew for a third season. Nothing like fast action TV and never a dull moment.
Im pulling for the show but i have noticed in this season they have toned down Maggie Q’s fight scenes a lot. In the first season she was like a super hero with about 4 big fight scenes per episode and now she only has one little fight scene per episode. That was the best thing about Nikita, seeing her kick butt.
I enjoy the show, but I am one of a pretty small number of viewers with only a .6 demo for the show. It is looking pretty bad for the show, but I expect that since Nikita is not a show that would really be popular to the CW’s target audience. I expect this is the last season for Nikita.
This show is very well done. It is on par with 24 or Prison Break for the budget it has. If CW cancels it will be such a tragedy. It will also magnify everything that is wrong with this network. They are unable to promote their shows to an older audience which Nikita skews too.
This show is fantastic and it has improved each week on Season 1 now in Season 2. The
Nielsen ratings should not be the only thing to go by but just listen to the blogs on the CW website and the IMDb Sites as well as others.
People love this show and should be granted not just two seasons but more it has alot to offer.
One of best writings in tv show, great cast, real chemistry, great action, amazing romance, cool music…. it really is one of the best. cw would be just bunch of idiot to cancel it.
Bad show… slept through it!!!! has been done so many times, no plot, scripts are badly written, too much drama, hopeless, the real original — the French was was the best!
I love this show but I wish they would move it back to Thursdays or CW puts its show on ON Demand because there are a bunch of other shows that I like to record the only thing about ON Demand is that you can’t fast forward or rewind as fast as the DVR can. Also I wish you had the ability to record 3 or 4 things at once. Anyway Nikita is awesome.
The CW is terrible at promoting the series. I believe many viewers had absolutely no idea it moved to Friday at 8pm. That move alone and also that it has no lead-in from Vampire Diaries, is going to kill off a lot of its viewers. Nikita is one of the CW’s best reviewed series and it needs some care to make it grow. Its a thrilling, smart action show with high production values and a diverse viewership. Watch Nikita, you won’t be disappointed.
agree. An underrated and great show!
THIS SHOW IS WOMDERFUL AND SHIOULD BE RENEWED FOR MORE THAN ONE SEASON!! IT HAS EVERYTHING – GREAT CAST, LOTS OF ACTION, ROMANCE, DRAMA, AND EVEN COMEDY.
