The Powells may have super powers but they weren’t strong enough to save their TV series. No Ordinary Family has been cancelled after one season on the air.
No Ordinary Family revolves around suburban family who, while on vacation, crash into Amazon River and gain special abilities. The cast includes Michael Chiklis, Julie Benz, Autumn Reeser, Jimmy Bennett, Kay Panabaker, Tate Donovan, Christina Chang, and Romany Malco.
The drama had a decent debut last September with a 3.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.69 million total viewers. Unfortunately, the ratings didn’t stay at that level and dropped by 16% in week two and then 15% in week three. The numbers kept declining and went as low as a 1.2 demo rating and just 4.26 million viewers in March.

The network cut the episode order but it was already clear by that point that the show was finished. ABC pre-empted one installment and bumped the penultimate episode to Saturday nights, an evening when few are watching. The first season of No Ordinary Family ended up averaging a 1.8 in the demo and 6.4 million viewers, making it one of the lowest dramas of the ABC season.
ABC has now officially cancelled No Ordinary Family. All 20 episodes have aired. Hopefully, at some point, the producers will share what they had planned for the future of the series.

ABC = Another Bad Choice…. This network sucks and I will not waist my time with them anymore. This was a good family show something that has been missing from the networks for a long time. This was a show I could watch with my kids, not very many of these shows out there when you cant afford cable.
What’s problem this peoples? The hell is goin on? Made something cool and then cancel? I’m Angry! I haven’t more what speak! After all, **** happens…!
I’ve got to say that I’m really bummed that they’ve cancelled this show! I thought it at least deserved a second season, especially with shows like Jersey Shore still going strong. It was definitely ‘my little brother & I’s show’, he has asperbergers & there aren’t many shows that he watched *and* enjoys. We’re both really sad to see it go! Gotta ask though, does watching shows on Hulu.com factor into their ratings? That’s really the main place I watch current shows & the *only* place my little brother will watch with me. I liked it, found it bounced around a little but really hoped it would mature.
I’m mad they cancelled it! It was a really great show and the finale was really leading up to something cool! I bet they didn’t take hulu.com into account. I never did watch that show on TV because I was always busy when I was airing. I relied on hulu to get me the latest episodes because it was a show I enjoyed but couldn’t watch much. What a shame. NOF is actually quite decent. Not the best, not by a thousand mile, but it got promise…

They cancelled No Ordinary Family……leave it to the drooling masses who have been mentally anesthetized against any esoteric fare. Do you think i will be watching the new Charlie’s Angels? Think again…..I detest televison twaddle with a vengeance. I will look forward to the continuing saga of A Game of Thrones and AMC’s The Walking Dead in October. (Attention Network Television,,,,get a freaking clue!)
I saw this coming early in the season. For me it was too campy and silly although it got better as the season progressed. However I won’t shed a tear now that its gone.
I dont think it should have been cancelled. It was a great show. I believe the network was the one who messed up the ratings. Every other week they would put on a rerun of the show. So no one probably knew when a new episode was coming on and probably forgot about it! I think they should definately bring it back!!!
And yet another good show that is cancelled! Way to go! Cable here I come! Its not a wonder that I find myself watching more shows on cable these days! Evertime one of these networks cancels a show, I find a new one to watch on a cable channel! USA has some good shows on it! Covert Affairs starts it new series on June 7th on USA! Everyone needs to check it out! GREAT show! Breakout Kings on A&E is another good show. Comes on Sunday nights!
I think it was a mistake to cancel this show, it was well done and I think it had a chance of catching on. If we are lucky another network like USA etc could pick it up. I guess they needed to make room for another ‘so you think you can (insert activity here)” kind of show.
