ABC had high hopes for Off the Map, their new medical drama from veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and ABC has now cancelled Off the Map after one season on the air.
Off the Map follows the lives of six doctors who have “lost their way” and have traveled to a remote South American jungle to try to rediscover why they wanted to become physicians.
The TV series’ cast includes Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The TV series premiered to a disappointing 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The show won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. As a result, ABC reran the premiere Off the Map the following night.
For whatever reason, subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Despite having some very passionate fans, Off the Map ended up being one of the lowest dramas on ABC. It’s no surprise then that the network has now decided against ordering a second season, cancelling the show. All 13 episodes have aired and we likely won’t find out what became of the young doctors left in the jungle.

I got the DVD and finished all thirteen episodes in two days. It was soooo different and really exciting. It’s really a shame that such a great t.v show could have been cancelled all because of t.v demographics. I would love it if they have a change of heart and renew it for season two.
So, so disappointed in the network for canceling a fresh new take on the millions of medical shows out there! I looked forward to seeing a second season. Also very frustrated that Brothers & Sisters got axed. When will they put a decent show on Sunday nights in the 9-10 (central) time slot. I barely watch Grey’s since that moved, then fell for B&S. Pan Am is decent. Let’s hope this one stays for a while!
loved off the map, was hoping there was a season 2!!!!
Please try to bring it .First time I have seen it .The first real show worth watching and I do not watch TV that much.It has to be real in which it seemed.I don,t know when the first one came out but It must have been the wrong time.Times are bad now and people need shows like this.Good shows are hard to find .Cast was great actors do a good job.Try to bring it back in 2013 People will be ready to see it then.I,ll put money on it.I am a pretty good judge about things.

LOVED the show! Have no idea why it didn’t have more fans but maybe they didn’t properly promote the show, I just stumbled onto it. Also, some shows need more time to make a following. I think it was one of the best shows on last year. Extremely sad that it won’t be back.
I have been waiting for it to come back on only to find out its been cancelled. I’m very disappointed that they cancelled it. I loved the show. They cancel all good show for stupid reality TV show. I can’t stand reality shows. I am watching less and less TV because of the reality shows. I’ve even dropped my cable to the lest because there isn’t anything good on TV. Cancelling Off the Map is so sad and i want it back.
That’s why I don’t start watching any new shows anymore. I watch the season premier and enjoy the series and then it gets cancelled. Too disappointing. Off the Map was an excellent series. Reality TV sucks.

I loved the show. Great acting by most and I liked having know stars appear on the show. I was a different world than we are used to that is what made the show. The passions of the doctors was great. I really hope ABC would change their mind and continue the series.

Off The Map wasn’t your typical medical show, obviously !!!! With all the other shows being the same, this one brought a different spin on how other countries have to deal with emergency situations. Yes, it was just a t.v. show, but still, you could feel for how things are done.
seriously..?? I thought that my friend was lie when he said that he couldn’t find the season 2 yesterday. come on ABC, make it continue.. I’m in Indonesia and I really love it.. love it so much… If in your country this TV-show could make it, I think Asia can make it possible..!!
btw, I agree with Koni, this show is so much better than ER, Grey Anatomy and Private Practice..
