ABC had high hopes for Off the Map, their new medical drama from veteran producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and ABC has now cancelled Off the Map after one season on the air.
Off the Map follows the lives of six doctors who have “lost their way” and have traveled to a remote South American jungle to try to rediscover why they wanted to become physicians.
The TV series’ cast includes Caroline Dhavernas, Jason George, Jonathan Castellanos, Mamie Gummer, Martin Henderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Valerie Cruz, and Zach Gilford.
The TV series premiered to a disappointing 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.57 million viewers. The show won its timeslot but was disrupted in some parts of the country by coverage of the Tucson Memorial. As a result, ABC reran the premiere Off the Map the following night.
For whatever reason, subsequent episodes of Off the Map essentially drew fewer and fewer viewers each week. The final episode of the season hit a series low and attracted a very poor 1.3 rating in the demo with only 3.80 million viewers.
Despite having some very passionate fans, Off the Map ended up being one of the lowest dramas on ABC. It’s no surprise then that the network has now decided against ordering a second season, cancelling the show. All 13 episodes have aired and we likely won’t find out what became of the young doctors left in the jungle.

I am SO disappointed it was canceled! I think it was in a crappy time slot and there was not enough advertising. There were other shows on during that time slot with dedicated viewers…in fact, I DVR’d Off the Map to watch it. It is better than Grey’s Anatomy and should be given a second chance in the time before Grey’s….
As all of the others said…ANOTHER GREAT SHOW CANCELED. It seems all the fairly good family shows go the way of the buffalo. I think the network should bring it back.

Another show that was great cancelled. This is getting a little disappointing. My wife and I watch Greys Antomy every Thurday and love it but Off the Map was so much more exciting. Their was so much more potential and events that would leave you in ahhh. I just cannot believe that a show like this would not make it on the air for more than one season.
I thought it was an awesome show!! I even told ppl to watch it. I’m very upset it was cancelled I loved the cast! I’m sad I’ll never find out what happens next.

Very disappointed in their decision to cancel Off the Map. It is one of the best new shows that I have seen in a while.
I cannot believe ABC would cancel such a great show! I was so looking forward to the next season after that season finale cliff hanger!! I am very disappointed in ABC. Perhaps moving it to a 9pm slot could have made a difference? I still made it a point to never miss an episode, right along with Grey’s Anatomy! UGH, I AM SO ANGRY!
Loved the show….. It’s one of the few that I was actually willing to sit through commercials for, instead of recording it, because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened!
I think it was in a terrible time slot (too late) and poorly advertised (except for the premier). It also had a wonderful cast. They should have played that up.
Off the Map was a great show, I’m really disappointed it was canceled! I watched every episode as soon as it premiered and really loved the drama to it. The acting was great, and the story lines well thought out. I really can’t convey how sad I am about this.
I love Off the Map, it was my favorite, besides Grey’s Anatomy. I’m really disappointed we can’t know what happened :'(

I’m SO disappointed that ABC canceled Off the Map, it was something I looked forward to every week! And to top it off, I was SO ready to find out what was going to happen after the Season Finale…I’m SO frustrated! I thought it was an awesome show and my fiance and I never missed it! I’m sick of reality TV and was really into watching something that was the closest to ER in the Jungle 🙂 LOVED IT! And SO DISAPPOINTED!
