ABC has renewed their fantasy series Once Upon a Time for a second season. Co-creator Adam Horowitz broke the news via Twitter.
He wrote, “It’s official — #OnceUponATime has been picked up for season 2. Thank you all so much for watching, we’re beyond thrilled to continue on!”
A new take on classic fairy tales, Once Upon a Time follows the modern-day daughter (Jennifer Morrison) of Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Joshua Dallas) as she tries to help legendary characters who’ve been cursed by the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla). The series also features the talents of Robert Carlyle, Jared Gilmore, Raphael Sbarge, Meghan Ory, Jamie Dornan, Beverley Elliott, Lee Arenberg, David Paul Grove, and Gabe Khouth.
The drama debuted with a solid 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 12.93 million viewers. It was second in it’s timeslot. That was especially impressive considering that Once Upon a Time’s debut had to compete with the World Series and popular shows on cable.

Once Upon a Time dropped a mere 3% to a 3.9 rating in the all-important demo in week two. In week three, the numbers fell just a bit more — to a 3.8 rating — and the series got a full season pick-up.
The numbers keep dropping unfortunately and it looked like the show was going to be in trouble. But then, the ratings started to turn around and finally stabilized at a healthy level.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card — which measures the relative demo performance of the network’s shows — Once Upon a Time has a solid “A.” It’s the third-highest rated scripted series on the network and is the fourth-highest overall.
ABC announces their 2012-13 schedule next week but it seems pretty likely that Once Upon a Time will return to Sunday nights in the fall.

I like how it mixes reality and Fantasy and the story lines and sub plots always keeps

I stopped watching tv in college so I could study more now being out I don’t even have cable lol But I have a smartphone. So I found this show and I gotta say it grips me with the use of how love is the most powerful magic. I love it!!!! I faithfully watch this in awe every week and I will continue in Season 2. YES!!! Very happy ABC ‘s Once Upon a Time will be continuing for season 2. I love this show- it’s casted perfectly!! Robert Carlyle makes the show- “Dearie” –wonder if he throws those in on his own or they are in the script. A mind blowing ending- as no one saw the “MAGIC” coming – for Season 1 and can’t wait for season 2. Thank you ABC- You have a winner- again
So glad that the show gets to continue for another season. Was going to be terribly dissapointed if it did not get to continue with the final episode of season 1. This show is the only show that I watch on TV at all, and it either keeps me coming back on Sunday evenings or online on the following day to watch it. Also can’t wait until the episodes come out on DVD. They will definately be a collection to have. Absolutely love the show, keep it up!
