In preparation for the end of ABC’s One Life to Live, actress Erin Torpey is returning to the soap opera for a cameo. She played Jessica Buchanon from November 1990 until January 2003. Bree Williamson’s been playing the character ever since so Torpey will play another character when she returns to the series this September.
One Life to Live was cancelled by ABC in April and the final episode is scheduled to air on January 20, 2012. Here’s the press release about Torpey’s return:
ERIN TORPEY RETURNS TO ABC DAYTIME’S “One Life To Live”
Emmy-nominated actress Erin Torpey, who played the role of Jessica Buchanan from 1990 to 2003, returns to ABC Daytime’s “One Life To Live” in September. Torpey returned to “OLTL” in 2008 to celebrate the shows’ 40th anniversary, playing the role of Megan. For her return this September, she will play still another character to honor her long history with the show.
“I grew up on ‘OLTL’ and I am happy to make one last cameo as the show prepares to end its run,” said Torpey. “‘OLTL’ was a second family to me, and it will always hold a very special place in my life.”
In 1990, the same year she began playing Jessica at the age of 8, the Pennsylvania native made her Broadway debut in the revival of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” starring Charles Durning and Kathleen Turner. At age 11, she returned to Broadway in Neil Simon’s “The Goodbye Girl.” Following her “OLTL” run, Torpey moved to California, where she continues to work as an actress, singer and songwriter. Her credits include The Voice of Princess Aurora for the 2007 DVD release of “Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams.” She is also The Voice of Greek goddess Athena in the “God of War” video game series. Most recently she was The Voice of the Invisible Woman on the animated series “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.”
Torpey currently lives in California with her husband and one year old son.
Emmy Award-winning “One Life To Live,” created by Agnes Nixon, was launched July 15, 1968. Frank Valentini executive-produces. Ron Carlivati is the headwriter. The popular drama consistently ranks among the top five in the key demographic of Women 18-49. “One Life To Live” airs MONDAY-FRIDAY (2:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
