Tig Bavaro is signing off. Amazon has cancelled its One Mississippi TV show after two seasons. The second and final season of the series from Tig Notaro and Diablo Cody premiered on Amazon on September 8, 2017.
An Amazon Prime Video TV series, One Mississippi stars Tig Notaro, Noah Harpster, John Rothman, Stephanie Allynne, Rya Kihlstedt, Carly Jibson, Beth Grant, Carol Mansell, Casey Wilson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Adora Dei. A semi-autobiographical “traumedy” based on Notaro’s life, One Mississippi ponders what happens when you must go home again — whether or not your truly can.
Today, Amazon also cancelled Kevin Bacon’s I Love Dick, as well as Jean-Claude Van Johnson. On the upside, earlier today, they renewed The Tick for season two.
Deadline reports:
Amazon is doing more clearing the decks with the cancellation of three comedy series: Tig Notaro’s One Mississippi, Jill Soloway’s I Love Dick and Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Jean-Claude Van Johnson.

“This is part of a move towards bigger, wider-audience series,” an Amazon insider told Deadline.
Notaro’s semi-autobiographical One Mississippi has garnered strong reviews (100% on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 2), and the series also made headlines for its depiction of sexual misconduct that later was linked to the Louis C.K. scandal. The disgraced comedian was an executive producer on the series (in name only).

Amazon, which is on the hunt for big, broad drama hits, has dramatically pared down its comedy series slate, once populated heavily of quirky, underrated half-hour shows. Besides Globe-winning Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and just-renewed freshman hit The Tick, all other existing comedy series have been canceled, and the streaming platform also recently opted not to pick up any of the three comedy pilots from its most recent fall pilot season.
What do you think? Have you watched the two seasons of the One Mississippi TV series? Did this Amazon TV show deserve to be cancelled or renewed for a third season? Let us know, below.
Please bring back Mississippi One. It’s the 2nd time I’ve watched this series all the way through ….. very rare to watch an entire series twice.
My husband and I have been lately watching One Mississippi, and we are now on the second season. This show is EXCELLENT. We have really enjoyed watching this story of Tig, an adult daughter and sister who returns home just before her mother’s premature death, then gradually begins to reconnect with her brother and stepfather, while they all grieve yet move on with their lives. The story is imaginative, wise, and warmly funny, and the acting here is top-notch. One cares a lot about these characters and what they’re going through, as they’re discovering who and what they want in… Read more »
So sad to see One Mississippi season 3 canceled. Wonderful acting, excellent writing and the most genuine show out there. This was no ordinary tv show – the relationships came off as real and the characters had depth. Real mistake to let this one go.
Such an amazing show! All of the shows I love get canceled.
Please take it to another network. They’ll have the smarts Amazon is lacking
I am heart broken that this was cancelled. One of the best series ever written. I’m going to cancel my Prime membership. No more Transparent no more One Mississippi,no more me !!!
loved, loved, loved this show….always would recommend to folks to watch. Sad to hear that there’s not a season 3…would have loved to see how things worked out for everyone. Great cast, hilarious, smart and sweet. Will miss it!
Try saddened:*( The show was getting better and better…love the humor of Tig and love these types of shows. I truly hope another network picks it up so I can continue to support the show. Bad decision IMHO…
I just finished seasons 1 and 2. LOVED the show and am sorely disappointed there won’t be a season 3. This show is original, with wonderfully quirky characters and I wanted to see more!! Please bring it back.
What?!?! I can’t believe Amazon canceled One Mississippi! I love that show and I was so looking forward to a third season. Yet they kept The Tick? Really? How about shows for those of us over the age of 16?
Amazon, please reconsider. Tig Navarro, find another producer. I can’t imagine not knowing what is next for you and Kate, but also for your brother and especially your stepdad. That was especially my favorite story line.
Im very disapointed with Amazon for not renewing One Mississippi. The writing was excellent and the cast outstanding. Hopefully the show will be picked up by another network or Amazon will reconsider their decision.

It’s a shame they canceled one Mississippi just after two seasons atlas just getting really really ramped up to be a long-term staple
One Mississippi is very real and deals with difficult concepts in a graceful way. It’s similar to the real feel I get when watching This Is Us. So sad that one of the few good shows is cancelled. Maybe someone else will pick it up like Netflix did with Arrested Development.
bring back One Mississippi. my wife and I love this show. how do you have 100% on rotten tomatoes and get cancelled. wtf
Talented cast, great writing, funny, sad and thought provoking, quirky in a way that gets under your skin so you can’t stop watching and telling everyone you know about it. So LOVED this show. I am pretty sure the cancellation has something to do with the curse of having Louis CK as a producer. Despite what judgments have been made about his conduct, he has backed and supported a great many projects. I don’t think it is fair to extinguish exceptional entertainment because the Louis CK name is associated with it. The show Better Things, also brilliant, still dangling by… Read more »
