Tig Bavaro is signing off. Amazon has cancelled its One Mississippi TV show after two seasons. The second and final season of the series from Tig Notaro and Diablo Cody premiered on Amazon on September 8, 2017.
An Amazon Prime Video TV series, One Mississippi stars Tig Notaro, Noah Harpster, John Rothman, Stephanie Allynne, Rya Kihlstedt, Carly Jibson, Beth Grant, Carol Mansell, Casey Wilson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Adora Dei. A semi-autobiographical “traumedy” based on Notaro’s life, One Mississippi ponders what happens when you must go home again — whether or not your truly can.
Today, Amazon also cancelled Kevin Bacon’s I Love Dick, as well as Jean-Claude Van Johnson. On the upside, earlier today, they renewed The Tick for season two.
Deadline reports:
Amazon is doing more clearing the decks with the cancellation of three comedy series: Tig Notaro’s One Mississippi, Jill Soloway’s I Love Dick and Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Jean-Claude Van Johnson.

“This is part of a move towards bigger, wider-audience series,” an Amazon insider told Deadline.
Notaro’s semi-autobiographical One Mississippi has garnered strong reviews (100% on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 2), and the series also made headlines for its depiction of sexual misconduct that later was linked to the Louis C.K. scandal. The disgraced comedian was an executive producer on the series (in name only).

Amazon, which is on the hunt for big, broad drama hits, has dramatically pared down its comedy series slate, once populated heavily of quirky, underrated half-hour shows. Besides Globe-winning Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and just-renewed freshman hit The Tick, all other existing comedy series have been canceled, and the streaming platform also recently opted not to pick up any of the three comedy pilots from its most recent fall pilot season.
What do you think? Have you watched the two seasons of the One Mississippi TV series? Did this Amazon TV show deserve to be cancelled or renewed for a third season? Let us know, below.
This is seriously great TV watching. Amazing message in every episode. When girls rock at something, someone’s always gotta bring them down. Please bring back Tig & her crew. Never has a show like this been so relevant & needed!
Bring One Mississippi back!!! Let’s make a stand for Tig and against Louis CK’s destruction of others joy!
I really liked the show. It’s too bad Amazon canceled it. It was very progressive and needed in this climate.
I loved this series. It’s a shame Amazon cancelled. Very progressive and needed in today’s climate.
One of the best series EVER because every character and behavior felt authentic and gave us some likable people who are not stereotypes.
The irony of seeing Louis C.K.’s name on this show was the cherry on top.
I’m disappointed that One Mississippi was canceled. It was a rare intelligent show with characters that I cared about.
I enjoyed One Mississippi. As a breast cancer survivor the delicate subject was handled intelligently. I, too, had a mastectomy and could sympathize the pain Tig felt having to look at her body again. Her humor was great. Please bring back a season 3. I’ll gladly give you more content from a young mother with a 4 and 11 year old going through this ordeal.
One Mississippi and The Good Girl Revolt were both cancelled. These were excellent intelligent shows, with superb actors that explored serious subject matter. It’s unfortunate that the people making these decisions do not have their finger on the pulse of the people.
What a shame! One Mississippi was a great show. Enjoyed every single episode
One Mississippi was one of the most intelligent and best done series I’ve ever seen. Bad choice to cancel it–To be replaced with comedies for WIDER audience? are you kidding?–topics dealt with on One Mississippi were universal and done with great finesse….can’t get much wider than that. Serious topics, great comedy, intelligent issues…..etc…. Bring One Mississippi back please….
Loved this show. Please consider bringing it back
Not at all happy about discovering that not only was season 3 of “One Mississippi” cancelled, but seasons 1 and 2 were not even available! Amazon – the quirkiness of Prime was part of the draw! To get rid of shows so as to play to to a “wider base” makes you just another streaming service instead of having shows that are not available elsewhere. I’m disappointed, Amazon – you can do better!
