Last night, ABC unveiled their new retro-drama, Pan Am, and it performed a lot better than NBC’s Playboy Club did nearly a week ago.
Per the fast affiliate numbers, Pan Am attracted a 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.87 million viewers. The new series essentially retained the audience from lead-in Desperate Housewives and was second in the timeslot, well behind NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Compared to last season’s debut of now-cancelled Brothers & Sisters, Pan Am improved by 7% in the key demo (a 2.9 rating).
These numbers are positive but certainly not impressive. The TV show’s not an immediate bomb and it’s not an instant hit either. ABC execs were surely hoping for better, especially given all of the promotion they poured into it. We’ll likely have to see how the next episodes perform before we have an idea about the show’s chances for a second season.
What do you think? Did you watch Pan Am last night? Will you watch again? Do you think this show has a future or will end up being cancelled?

I love the show.It brings back memories of the sixties when everything was fun and fresh and naive. Please don’t cancel the show.Give it a chance

The story lines regarding the Cold War crisis and the lead into the stewardess’s espionage role is totally believable, we believe the CIA was capable as were the Russians of using… Read more »
I really love this show and there is not enough actual decent programing on t.v. anymore. Do not cancel Pan Am.
If you are looking for mindless reality TV…then don’t watch this. This is REAL TV. I love this show. I’ll follow it wherever it moves to. I’ll buy the DVD’s and I’ve already introduced 3 friends to it. KEEP IT!!!
I really love Pan Am. It is a show I shall watch every sunday night. The cast is great and you really get attached to the characters and the story. It’s a wonderful new show, I haven’t been this excited about one in a long time. I really hope it doesn’t get cancelled. Success sometimes takes time!
I was watching both Pan Am and the Playboy club but thought the playboy club was much more interesting. I am continuing to watch Pan am right now but miss the playboy club.
