Unfortunately, Parenthood has never been a hit TV show in the ratings. Fortunately, the numbers have been good enough to keep it from being cancelled each year. Will the Braverman family’s luck hold out? Time will tell.
An ensemble family drama, the cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Craig T. Nelson, Dax Shepard, Erika Christensen, Joy Bryant, Lauren Graham, Mae Whitman, Max Burkholder, Miles Heizer, Monica Potter, Peter Krause, Sam Jaeger, Sarah Ramos, Savannah Paige Rae, and Tyree Brown.
Season four of Parenthood typically airs on Tuesdays nights at 10pm on the NBC network. They’ve ordered 15 episodes.
These are the TV show’s ratings for the 2012-13 season, the best way to tell if Parenthood is going to be cancelled or renewed for season five.

It wasn’t a great start of the season. Though Parenthood won its timeslot (opposite reruns), it was down year-to-year by 14% in the coveted demo (vs a 2.2 rating) and down by 13% in total viewers (vs 6.29 million). This isn’t a big surprise however since each season opener has been lower than the one before it.
Reference point: The 2011-12 season of Parenthood averaged a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.13 million viewers.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Parenthood TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?

Parenthood is one of the best shows on television. The writers and actors do an accurate job portraying life with Asperger’s. I am a nurse and work with families with Autism Spectrum Disorders and I tell them all to watch that show!
I don’t understand why this show does not get better ratings. It is one of the best on TV. It’s like a real family, with real family problems, and how they solve them with love. Just don’ t know what has happened to America’s taste for good shows. People seem to cater to the ridiculous reality shows and the pure obsenities on some shows.
The show is great and my wife and I are so tired of so called contrived REALITY tv. I understand reality tv is cheap to make but understand thereis still a large veiwer ship out there for what tv used to be. I’ve come to love the actors and would really be bummed losing another great show for folks in their 50s and 60 year old demographic that can relate to shows like Parenthood. Please don’t cancel them.
This is my favorite show on T.V. There are so few good shows on any more. Especially family shows and shows with real meaning. Not silly vulgar sitcoms and too many police shows. Please do not cancel this show. I know many others that enjoy it too.
My hasband and I always watch this show it is a favorite. It is nice to have a show that is smart funny and family focussed there are not enough great decent shows
Stop writing for teenage boys. Write for their moms instead
Love this show. Amazing acting, story lines . Really hope there will be a season 5 and so on…….By far my favorite show.
I would love to see Parenthood renewed! The show addresses many real life issues. Great show!
My favorite show. I thought it had been renewed,
but haven’t found it.
Best Show Ever! When is it coming back on?
The acting is excellent and the story line with Max
must hit home with alot of people dealing with the same
struggles of a child with Aspergers syndrome.
I, too, just discovered Parenthood through Netflix and was blown away by the quality of the acting and story lines. Cry my eyes out every episode. NBC would be ridiculously stupid to not renew it for a FULL SEASON. Pretty much every show they air bombs, yet Parenthood routinely wins it’s time slot.
Best show in TV where is it??!!!!
I only “discovered” Parenthood this year through the wonderful world of Netflix. It’s by far the best series on network tv. I would hate to see it cancelled!
If they cancel Parenthood I will never watch anything on NBC again. The total garbage that fills the majority of tv is just that, garbage. I don’t want anymore reality shows-they are junk. Do the networks really think we care about that kind of stuff? Parenthood is one of the best shows on TV and deserves far better than what it has been getting. Get off your duff NBC and do your job.
Parenthood is our all time favorite show! Not sure where the ratings come from, but I know we watch it on Hulu and I know a lot of people that do. Does that count towards the ratings? I cannot believe they would cancel it, for what, more reality t.v.? It’s such a quality t.v. show, unlike any on t.v.
Please Don’t cancel!!! This is one a the few quality shows on your network. This show is so relevant to allot of our lives.
