Passions was cancelled by NBC in January 2007 because of low ratings. DirecTV saved the soap and began airing it exclusively in the Fall of 2007, hoping that fans would be willing to pay to watch.
Unfortunately, the deal didn’t work out as well as expected and the satellite TV provider pulled the plug in December 2007. Execs tried to find another outlet for the soap but were unsuccessful. The series finale of Passions was filmed in March 2008.

As Father Lonigan (Bruce French) is about to begin the baptism of Tabitha (Juliet Mills), the group from the basement moves up to the main church. Each group catches the other up on the amazing events. As the baptism begins, the earth begins to shake so badly that the priest can’t continue. It’s the dark side at work, trying to prevent the ceremony. Julian (Ben Masters) asks Endora (Nicole Cox) to use her magic to make it stop and she zaps the bowl of holy water. The shaking subsides long enough for the Father to be able to complete the ceremony. Tabitha has been baptized.
The volcano erupts again, leading Miguel (Adrian Bellani) to believe that it didn’t work. Kay (Heidi Mueller) thinks that, after centuries of evil, the good side just needs a little time to prevail. Those that were in the basement are pretty confused so Esme (Erin Cardillo) reveals that Tabitha is a witch who gave up her powers to save them. Esme tells everyone that Endora and Kay are good witches. Kay reveals that Jessica’s also a witch (but doesn’t use her powers) and Maria is probably a witch as well.
The volcano finally settles down and Julian says that Timmy’s plan has worked. A bright light from above suddenly shines on Tabitha and then expands to include everyone else. All stand, arms raised to the light. Endora asks her mother why she’s crying and Tabitha tells her that it’s the first time she’s been truly happy in all of her lifetimes — she now knows what God’s love feels like.
Endora is happy her mother will live an eternal life, just like Timmy. Tabitha looks to heaven and thanks Timmy because there was forgiveness for her after all and she will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. She declares that there is only good magic in Harmony now — no more demons, no more evil. Sam (James Hyde) asks about the evil Cranes. Standing with Eve (Tracey Ross), Julian responds that, since his father is dead, Crane Industries will only do good things from now on. This is all too much for Ivy (Kim Johnston Ulrich) who wants a drink. Already tipsy Esme (Erin Cardillo) is all ready with the champagne.
Just then, the clothes of Gwen (Liza Huber) and Rebecca (Andrea Evans) clothes are zapped into polyester janitor’s uniforms. Theresa (Lindsay Hartley) thinks it’s God’s way of telling them to clean up their acts. They’re mortified and Rebecca recalls that the last time she wore something that tacky was when they went to Las Vegas a few years back. Gwen doesn’t remember this and Rebecca says Gwen was really upset about Theresa and Ethan (Eric Martsolf) for the millionth time and ended up marrying some guy that she’d met in Vegas. Gwen thought that it was all a dream. Rebecca laughs it off until she remembers that Gwen never got a divorce. In fury, Gwen tries to choke her mother until she’s pulled away from her.
Theresa and Ethan realize that his marriage to Gwen is null and void. As a result, the lovebirds can be married at last. Gwen spits out, “Damn it!” once again. Theresa asks Kay to “hocus-pocus” Rebecca and Gwen off to do some mopping somewhere. Kay happily does so and Ethan asks Father Lonigan to perform the wedding ceremony right away. He says he’d be honored and the attendees take their seats.
Endora stops the priest and puts her hand to his eyes. After some twinkling lights, Father Lonigan’s eyesight is miraculously restored. He tells the crowd that they’re all as he imagined them and tearfully thanks Endora.

Theresa apologizes that her black dress isn’t very appropriate. After a quick zap from Endora though, she’s wearing a beautiful wedding gown. Tabitha comments that everything’s perfect, well, almost perfect. Endora tells her mother that it doesn’t have to be “almost perfect.” Tabitha then feels the small gloved hand of her beloved Timmy take her hand. Now, she is truly happy.
As Theresa walks down the aisle, some of the attendees whisper to each other. Fancy (Emily Harper) tells Luis (Galen Gering) that she’s pregnant and he’s overjoyed. Sheridan (McKenzie Westmore) tells Antonio (Christopher Douglas) how much she loves him and that she can’t wait to have his children someday. He says that he truly loves her as well. Though they’d agreed to wait to have children, Paloma (Hannia Guillen) tells new husband Noah (Dylan Fergus) that she’s also pregnant and he’s ecstatic.
Eve comments to Julian that there’s finally harmony in Harmony. He agrees that all is well but then remembers the problem with his damaged “member.” Kay and Miguel are sitting nearby and Kay offers to fix the problem. He happily agrees and is quickly healed.
And then, finally, the wedding vows of Theresa and Ethan gets underway. Theresa can’t believe it. Gwen and Rebecca enter, trying to stop the wedding but it’s not going to happen. They complain that they should also have a happy ending, like everyone else. The priest assures them that, if they have truly changed their ways, they will have one. Rebecca hears a donkey bray outside and sighs, “There’s my happy ending.” Gwen is upset until the deputy that’s about to arrest her says that he’d like to become better acquainted with her when she gets out of prison.
Esme shrieks that her bottle is empty and tells the bride and groom that they must finish the nuptials so she can have more. Ethan and Theresa commit their love to one another, complete the ceremony, and are finally married. They kiss and the crowd applauds.
Theresa turns to the camera and says, “So, after all these years, I know one thing for sure. Always follow your passion. Because that, and that alone, will lead you to your happy ending.”
As the theme song plays, we see the cast standing in the church, waving goodbye to the audience. Loads of balloons fall from above. The camera pans across the performers as they smile and wave goodbye. The camera stops on Mills and she’s hugging a framed picture of the late Josh Ryan Evans as Timmy. As the camera pulls back, the cast circles around Mills, still waving.
The screen goes to black and text appears that reads “From all of us, to all of you…Thank you.” This fades back to the church and we see the combined cast and crew in the church clapping. We also hear a recording of Evans singing “Ole Ang Sign” from a past episode. The song finishes, the screen fades to black, and the credits roll. After over nine years of Harmony magic, it’s the end of series.

save passions it is the funniest and best show i have ever watched. if it wouldnt have moved to direct tv i woudve watched it every day. i loved that show and so did every one i know even my husband liked it and he hates soap opras. i bet if it came back to nbc they would have really good ratings. still to this day i havnt watched nbc and keept good to my promise because i was so mad that i got so attached and it was taken away with such short notice
i just watched the last show and did not even realize it was the last show. i am in tears.
I think going to directv was a big mistake eventhough I already had service with them. I hope and pray that a miracle happens! I really enjoyed the supernatural show!
Please save Passions!!!! You cannot leave it where it left off. Theresa and Ethan finally got together after all these years. The decision to take it off NBC was a mistake. This is why it lost ratings. Sending the show to DirectTV was just wrong. Not everyone could get it. Here in Canada we had it on SuperChannel. Please try to save it and put it back on NBC where it belongs. I cannot see why the actressses and actors would not want to continue working.
Anybody have Passions series finale? TIVO DID NOT record and would love to see it. Air date 8/7/08
