TV show description:
This TV show revolves around Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), an eccentric and brilliant neuroscience professor. Unfortunately, his mind is also damaged and he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
Pierce struggles with hallucinations and paranoid delusions brought on by his schizophrenia. Oddly though, he considers some of his hallucinations to be a gift. They occasionally allow him to make connections that his conscious mind can’t yet process. At other times, the hallucinations become Pierce’s greatest curse, leading him to behave in irrational, potentially dangerous ways.
Still, he’s recruited by FBI agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook) to help solve complex cases. Pierce has an intimate knowledge of human behavior and a masterful understanding of the way the mind works. He also has an uncanny ability to see patterns and can look past people’s conscious emotions to see what lies beneath. Kate is Pierce’s former student and, unlike her colleagues, she’s willing to look past his peculiarities.
Pierce’s mental condition and offbeat manner make it difficult for him to achieve the close friendships and intimate relationships he craves.
Those close to him include Max Lewicki (Arjay Smith), his teaching assistant. Max’s primary job is to keep Pierce in line and on task, whether that means grading midterms or laying out his boss’ wardrobe for the day. Natalie Vincent (Kelly Rowan) is Pierce’s best friend and every bit his intellectual equal. Paul Haley (LeVar Burton) is the dean at Pierce’s university and one of his few friends.
Pierce is in his element when solving an intricate puzzle or a coded message. But in unfamiliar situations, he can quickly become overwhelmed, and only his favorite music and a crossword puzzle have the power to make things right again.
Episode #39 — Run
When Moretti goes missing the day of her wedding, Pierce and Donnie set off in pursuit of the runaway bride. They soon learn that Kate has been abducted by a dangerous person from Pierce’s own past. Pierce and Donnie risk everything to save Moretti before it’s too late.
First aired: March 17, 2015
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
I LOVE Perception! Why do the Networks cancel the intelligent shows, and keep the bad shows? I guess this means I watch a lot less TV!
Are these posts even getting to anyone who cares? Will they make a difference to bring the show back?
I love that show–please bring it back
Yay! Thank you for un-cancelling this show!!! It’s a great show, the cast is terrific together, the show is a cop show, but different in a great way; the interaction between the characters is outstanding, the way he copes with his illness is not only a tweak on the usual type cop show, it gives people an idea that maybe–just maybe–people with mental disabilities are not disabled, not useless, but can be strong, resilient, and very, very useful. It’s different, it’s fresh, it’s timely–it’s wonderful. When I heard it had been cancelled I was alternately depressed and angry. TV needs… Read more »
Sorry, it hasn’t been un-cancelled. They’re just going to be airing the remaining episodes of the season.
Every time that there’s a show with any signs of intelligence, the powers that be pull it off the air. Have loved Perception since day one and now you’ve cancelled it to put stuff that’s “edgier” on the air?! Intelligent show vs filthy mouths/pushing nudity – no way. You head office folks are just plain ignorant. We’re not all mindless saps out here. Pretty soon the only decent stuff to watch will be on PBS and Hallmark Channel.
Please don’t cancel this show!!
Just saw the ad for new season of Perception on TNT starting February 17th. Maybe all the comments changed their minds. Hope they do a mini marathon before season 4 premier. New season of Rozelli & Isles also begins in February.
No, they’re just airing the remaining episodes of the season.
Well crud. After thinking about when their seasons start I was afraid that was the case. Thanks for answering.
What? This is the best show on TV, my friends and I have been waiting for the return date.
Perception was my favorite show and I’ve been eagerly awaiting it’s return. Please don’t cancel it. It’s ‘insight’ to the brain/mind is intriguing and it is written very well. Plus the actors are great on this show. Loved it from the opening of the first show and would hate to see it go.
yes please renew
it is one of few show I like to watch
Please renew this brilliant show!!! It has a great cast, an unusual stoy line and great writing. Why do we get rid of these good shows, but you continue to play reruns ad nauseam of others shows. Bring back Dr. Pierce and his talent.
Love this show!!!
My family has been waiting for the new season of Perception. This show is wonderful and intelligent. We have watched every episode a couple times. Even my husband has watched it because I tape it. It is clean, my grand kids can watch it and I don’t have to worry about it.
Eric McCormick is fantastic, the whole cast is. What were you guys thinking??? The truth is you weren’t.
Seriously? Yet another CSI is coming out, and they cancel one of the smartest shows on tv?
Bring Daniel & Kate back! (Donnie can stay gone.)
Love show. Please do not cancel
Eric McCormack is brilliant as Dr. Daniel Pierce and he deserves an Emmy for his performance in Perception. This show is entertaining, well written, has a great cast but most important, it is so different than any other crime show on television. The TV public in America will not be satisfied until we have a CSI show for all 50 states and Law & Order is on every local channel in syndication. Perception is too intellectual for the normal viewer which is why it was doomed from the beginning.
I agree that Eric McCormack is brilliant as Dr. Pierce. The whole cast is great together and the mysteries and the solutions are excellent. And the show is different from other crime shows. TNT seems to be cancelling a lot of shows some of which didn’t even have a fair shot like King and Maxwell. But cancelling Perception is unbelievable! It is really a high quality show that deserves to be renewed. Sometimes I think all the networks are going for all reality shows all the time to appeal to the voyeurs and not the viewers who want intelligent, interesting… Read more »
I also think that the bureaucrats that cancel shows don’t even watch TV. They wouldn’t know a good show if it bit them on the butt.
