CBS is no longer interested in Person of Interest. Deadline reports the series has been cancelled after five seasons.
Person of Interest stars Jim Caviezel as a former CIA agent who teams up with a billionaire genius (Michael Emerson) to prevent crime.
The cancellation isn’t new news. Though the series was renewed for a 13-episode fifth season last year, Person of Interest has been rumored to be coming to an end for awhile.
Ratings have declined for the series in recent years, and last season, the show took a dip when it moved nights. This winter, series producer J.J. Abrams even said the fifth season would probably be the show’s last.
From series creator Jonah Nolan and executive producer Greg Plageman, in a press statement:
We’re extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans. We’re eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show’s fans — the best fans in the world. This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it’s been our great privilege to work on the show for the past five seasons. We can’t wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter.”
The fifth and final season of Person of Interest premieres on May 3rd on CBS.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Person of Interest? Do you think it should’ve been cancelled or renewed for a sixth season?
I am very sad that this show is being cancelled. Of all the good shows why this one? probably because I loved it! it happens every time I like something :(. It is very concerning that the shows that rate high are the ones that are totally out of line and have no substance at all, it shows what kind of people we have become. Renew this show, do not cancel it, keep it going for the sake of the few!
I love this show. My husband and I were waiting on it.
I really loved this show .
There’s not much on anymore that is worth watching……
I still love this show!!!!
great show great creative concept ; it should not be cancelled . wednesday night is open and the show would do well there
CBS seems to be working hard to become the new NBC. Person of Interest is a top flight show but current network execs cancel this show in favor of new weak trash that they can control for less money. The same applies for Mike and Molly, there best comedy. I can only hope that CBS gets a kick in the shorts like we fans of these good shows who are now stuck watching the average crap that is being stuffed up our snifters.
I won’t be watching any average crap, watching less on CBS if they cancel this show. Their new shows are terrible so I won’t be wasting my time on them for sure.
Great. “Person of Interest”, a very-well-recieved series screwed over because its network’s in-house studio doesn’t produce it. In this day and age, you’re going to have scripted TV shows screwed over by its network all because that show comes from an “outside” studio like Warner Bros. or 20th Century Fox, no matter how good the critical reception and ratings for that show are. The sitcom “Mike & Molly”, another Warner Bros. show on CBS which received a 13-episode order for this season, was also screwed over by CBS for that reason. As for “The Mentalist”, the decision was made to… Read more »
I’m extremely disappointed, it was by far my favorite show. I don’t know what the execs are doing when they make such stupid decisions.
I loved Person of Interest and it’s cancelled.
Great show with natural ability to keep morphing the plot as needed. If the principals wanted to continue, a mistake has been made. (no surprise. hmmm. replacing with a pop loser like trump would be par.)
I’ve never seen so many of my favorite shows cancelled on CBS. And it’s usually after they move nights that kills the ratings. Ughhh. You guys are driving me crazy.
I agree, partially, with Why Watch’s assessment of the situation. When the show started, the whole idea of a computer, designed for the surveillance of potential terrorists turned around to finding those that are either in danger, or endangering others was fresh while raising some interesting ethical questions of the public being watched by computers. While the story of a larger conspiracy seemed to consume the show, I felt it was still a very solid story. It would have helped if the writers incorporated both plot ideas into a single story line. The team saves those in danger, while darker… Read more »
Another GREAT SHOW thrown away! I hate it when this happens. Will probably put another JUNK show in it’s place. I love JIM CAVIEZEL in the part. He is perfect and so is Michael Emerson in his part. Such a shame that they keep cancelling excellent shows. Shame, shame, shame on CBS!!!
Already was, Limitless…
I could see this written in the cards. When they moved away from the initial focus of helping individuals and towards a conspiracy and rival, the days were numbered. I enjoyed the earlier seasons far better than latter.
Why are always the best shows cancelled???? What a disappointment
Season 5 is coming back in May (3rd i think) for 13 eps. This was one of my favorite shows and “must watch”. Last year was a little off of the other 3 seasons but i still tuned in regularly. Will miss Cavazel and the other cast.
