Last night, NBC aired the final two episodes of their mystery-thriller series, Persons Unknown. The show revolves around a group of people who wake up in a small town and must figure out how to survive and escape. The cast includes Chadwick Boseman, Lee Purcell, Jason Wiles, Andy Greenfield, Daisy Betts, Tina Holmes, Alan Ruck, Kate Lang Johnson, Sean O’Bryan, and Gerald Kyd.
NBC waited until summer to air Persons Unknown; a time when fewer people watch television and their isn’t much competition. On Monday nights, it got very poor ratings, even for a summer show, and was consequently sent to the TV graveyard known as Saturday nights.
Remi Aubuchon, one of the show’s executive producers, has said that the show was originally envisioned to have self-contained seasons but could easily run for multiple years. Based on the ratings and their treatment of the series, it is highly unlikely that NBC will bring Persons Unknown back for a second season.
What do you think? In all likelihood, last night’s installment is the final episode. What do you think of the Persons Unknown finale? Were enough questions answered in “Shadows in the Cave” to satisfy you?

Jeez. I loved this show. The acting may have been a little bad, and some questions went unanswered but that was why I totally expected a second season. I looked up season 2 to figure out when it would start, but everyone’s saying it’s unlikely :(. That makes me very sad. The ending actually cleared up so much for me. I understand Joe more now, and the level 2 idea seemed like a great twist that would definitely keep me watching. It would be SUCH a waste if they didn’t keep the show going, and if they switch to a… Read more »
A totally idiotic ending from a company run by idiots. The show probably had the go-ahead because the show runners shared cocaine with a few NBC execs at a party.
What a waste of my time this summer!! It ended exactly like it started. It was like a tie ball game-no winners, no satisfaction at all. I loved the show until the last episode and am truly!!!!disappointed in NBC. No wonder they are the bottom channel. They won’t get my business ever again. I don’t like to be kept hanging.
I thought the show was brilliant, whether or not we see a second season. As for all the questions not being answered…so what? That was the fun of it…keeps you guessing! Life doesn’t have all the answers, either. It is what it is, as they say…
I was really into this show! I thought it was like watching Lost and Prison Break all rolled into one series. I am looking forward to the next season to see what happens to all the characters now that they’ve returned to the “town” or ship. I can’t believe Tori is now the night manager. Interesting twist. Please consider another season not only to answer our questions, but to delve more deeply into why “The Program” exists and how it got started in the first place. It seems like some highly complex system like “The Company” in Prison Break. It’s… Read more »
Can someone tell me who is charge at NBC. They are the worst. It never gives anything a chance before they just start bouncing it all the place. If they had done that to Seinfeld it would never had been the hit it was. I can’t tell you how many times I was totally into a show and then they hosed it all up. Studio 60, Life, Southland? And you wonder why everyone watches cable channels. suck it NBC
I got lucky and found the last episodes on an NBC digital channel on FIOS. What a way to piss me off especially after what they did with Kings last year.
I enjoyed the show – but the ending was a waste of time. I was hoping that because the last phrase was “welcome to level 2” that it brought a promise of another season. But first, I’d like to know what happened in this season. Who are these people and what are they trying to achieve?
“All will be revealed.” That’s what we heard all summer. Well, someone lied. No wonder very few NBC shows are any good. This is the kind of stuff they do. Sigh. This show should be picked up by cable’s SyFy channel and would probably do very well.
NBC why dont you just physically stomp on my heart! Cause thats what you’ve just done with this fine series’ conclusion!!!
Molotov Cocktails for everyone.
There was an episode that was left out here in the US. My brother-in-law got it off line it is episode 11. We watched it and all we have are questions. No questions were answered. We believed the promise that all questions would be answered also. Too bad.
I rarely watch SciFi type series that seem unending. This was an exception though I cannot explain my infatuation with the show. The ending at first seemed too perfect. Then they appear on a ship, Level 2. I would like to see it back but it doesn’t look good.
So I never watched this show when it was on, actually I didn’t even know when it came on, I came across it on demand. I watched all the episodes and today just watched what I am gathering as the finale, it didn’t say it was and the ending killed me…. What is level 2???? I enjoyed this show, I just wish they would do more with it. Nothing was answered if that was the series finale and I am upset about that! Please come out with a season 2 to answer some of these questions! I hate to think… Read more »
Fooled, duped, horn squalled, deceived, taken in, bamboozled, hoodwinked, tricked, conned, wool pulled over my eyes, misled, misinformed, suckered, cheated, and lied to. They got me. NBC got me. “…all will be revealed…” What a crock of horse %$#!. As bad as the series was (and it was bad) I was still willing to watch it until the end based on the promised that everything would be revealed at the end. Word to everyone (actors included) involved with this piece of crap–drop this sucker from your resume. It was a reasonably interesting premise that was good for a few episodes,… Read more »
I agree, this didnt answer any questions and I enjoyed it enough to hope they bring it back. Why were they taken what is the program? Terrible ending unfair to those of us who were promised answerws.
