It’s no lie. According to Variety, Pretty Little Liars creator Marlene King hopes to end the series after season seven.
The second half of season six premieres on January 12th on ABC Family’s re-branded network, Freeform.
Speaking to Variety, King said the storyline that begins in the backhalf of season six will conclude at the end of season seven. The new season picks up five years after the end of the last episode.
When asked if she was certain season seven would be the series’ last, she responded, “Correct.”
So far, Pretty Little Liars has been a stand-out hit for ABC Family. The network renewed the series for both a sixth and seventh season at the same time, and ratings for season six’s midseason finale actually grew. The episode gained a 65% growth in its 18-49 demo for its last episode, pulling in around 3.087 million viewers.
The end of the series may not be the end of Pretty Little Liars, however. Last month, King confirmed that they have ideas for a movie spin-off of the show. Though, King was quick to clarify that a movie would not happen right after the series ended. So far, no official plans for a film have been announced.

What do you think? Should Pretty Little Liars end? Would you like to see more?
I really hope there is more seasons of pretty little liars, I love spending time watching it and it’s really sad to think season 7 will be the last. I hope you really do think about ongoing it for years because it’s my favourite tv show and it’s amazing. Please keep it up!! X
In my mind at this point from being an obsessed PLL fan since the first episode here is how I think the rest of the series should play out. Use Season 6B and 7 to start and finish the new mystery. Then I would love for them to have a happy ending with families and everything in Season 8. Then I think after that happening in Season 8 it would be a good time for the series to end.
