Tonight marks the season finale of the Proof TV show on TNT. Will this series that’s focused on death manage to stay alive and see a second season? Should this drama be cancelled instead?
On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) recently lost her son, saw her marriage end, and become estranged to her teenage daughter. Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.
The series debuted on June 16th with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.66 million viewers. It was a pretty mediocre start for a TNT series. The ratings dwindled downward over the course of the season though they saw a nice bump upward last week.
The season is currently averaging a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.12 million viewers. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and is in the middle of the pack in viewership.
With ratings like these, the cable channel could go either way. It could easily be canceled or renewed. If the finale does particularly well, those ratings coupled with last week’s numbers might be enough to tip the scale towards a renewal. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Proof TV show on TNT? If you ran the cable channel, would you cancel or renew it for a second season?
Keep it. I think this is a great show. It is diffevent and interesting.
I love the show. Keep it on at least another season
I look forward to another season of Proof. Please allow me this guilty pleasure with great characters and compelling, thoughtful plot line!
Renew it! It’s a great show, its fresh its something different. It allow the viewer to hope with the characters. Great show with so much potential.
Proof is a must see for me every episode. It’s gripping and mystery filled with surprises around every corner and heart felt warm at just the right times to make it feel authentic to our daily lives and issues. Especially if you have older parents that you care about and speak to who. Every one of ours in the family explore this issue with a new haste and seriousness since we’ve been watching this show. We LOVE this show, the actors, the characters, the plots, the dialogue, the ideas it explores. In fact, I just got a call from my… Read more »
PLEASE RENEW!!!! I truly enjoy this show…..I hope it’s not canceled. I too am disappointed how quickly grear shows are canceled and not given sufficient time to build an audience.
i have really enjoyed watching this show the last couple months, it is unlike anything that has really been on television here recently. it had some amazing actors as well as acting, wonderful writing, & a great concept. this show has the “chops” it has already lead the way for so many possibilities for yall to go for season 2, so give it a chance because from what i have read above i am not the only one that feels this way & there are so many more. so at least give Proof 1 more Season WE WANT TO SEE… Read more »
I really enjoy this showshow,it is one of my favorite cable TV shows.
I hope that TNT renews it.
I liked the show and would like to see another season.
I love Proof. Usually there is nothing on Summer TV and I didn’t even know that something this interesting was showing until a friend told me about it. Fortunately it was early on and I was able to get what I missed On Demand. I look forward to the 2nd season and one cannot miss with mystery and intrigue. They left us hanigin’ and it’s certainly worth another season.
My wife and I both love this show. I certainly hope it is renewed for a second season.
Please please keep Proof on – its my favorite show in this entire season. It is well written, the acting is excellent, it is engaging and thought provoking.
My husband and I loved watching Proof. We have our fingers crossed that it will be around for a new season.
sad that the ratings went down again. I don’t get that. I am beginning to think that ratings
are flaky due to everyone watching things on their dvr’s. But I love this show. But every
single show I have loved got cancelled after the first season. Which is why I am dropping
network tv and cable and watching Netflix and Amazon Prime. They at least give their
shows time to build an audience. Sundance is good too.
I absolutely agree with you… Every show I like gets canceled, I’m also getting tired of TV shows……streaming is the way to go
LOVE this show Proof! Keep it please!.such a refreshing change from all the murder and crime genre. Really makes you consider other possibilities.
