What would be the smart move? The season one finale of Pure Genius just aired on January 26th, and we want to know if you think CBS should cancel or renew the TV show for a second season.
A medical drama, Pure Genius follows a team of doctors as they team up with cutting-edge tech experts and try to push the boundaries of modern medicine to save lives. Doctor Walter Wallace (Dermot Mulroney) is a disgraced but brilliant surgeon who is recruited by a young Silicon Valley tech billionaire, James Bell (Augustus Prew). Wallace learns that Bell is harboring a secret and he begins to question just what the young founder is really trying to achieve. The cast also includes Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton, and Brenda Song.
Pure Genius debuted on October 27th with middling ratings for CBS. The pilot earned a 1.05 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6.23 million viewers. From there, the numbers only declined. With only 13 episodes under its belt, season one of the series received an average rating of 0.86 in the 18-49 demo and a total of only 5.34 million viewers. The show’s ratings currently rank third to last out of CBS’ 22 scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Given the low ratings and CBS’ decision not to order more episodes, it seems likely Pure Genius will be cancelled.

I feel it would be a grievous mistake to cancel this show. At the very least, I feel it should be allowed a second season. I myself find it to be a very engaging and intellectual show because it shows possible cures and treatments that strike me as ones that could become reality for our people. I feel that CBS is not receiving true statistics regarding viewer satisfaction. I feel it is more popular in reality than what the so-called ratings or polls they gather their information from. This is a great show that needs a little money re promotion and the right time slot. It would be a shame to not carry this show forward.

Pure Genius is a great show. The major networks wonder why they are losing viewers, it’s because you continue to produce comedies that need laugh tracks such as 2 broke girls and Big Bang Theroy. Or you air “Reality” shows like the newest one Hunted that aren’t really reality. And for the most part just displays human’s nastier side. This show brings together medicine &technology and what might be if people use their brains and think outside of the box. This also shows young adults that intelligence can be awesome. This show needs to be renewed. It is a wonderful cast and refreshing stories. It got no support from the network and a terrible time slot.
My husband and I really enjoy the show. We would love to see a second season.

Pure Genius most definitely should be renewed. CBS did nothing to promote the show and putting in the 10ET/9CT timeslot on Thursday against veteran shows almost makes me feel they set this show up to fail right from the start. This show has the most heart-touching & beautiful storylines filled with so much hope. The entire cast is phenomenal. Each actor brought their unique characters to life and they all blended together perfectly. There is no medical show on TV quite like this one.
